WOULD YOU HAVE HELPED ?

Mon Jun 28, 2010 3:54 pm

After 10,000 of us bought season tickets in December believing that the money would be used to strengthen the squad in January but it was evidently used to pay other bills that were more pressing for the security of the club.

Then in Febuary it was announced that PMG would buy a parcel of land that was belonging to the club, which had been gifted to them by the council as part of the stadium deal, to settle the outstanding tax bill that was in need of paying immediately.

The figure the land was bought by PMG for was £1.9million and not all the money went to the club, only part of it, but the majority was used to reduce the debt PMG was owed by the club.

So my question is, would you have invested in the land and given the club say £300 along with another 6500 fans to raise £2million that the club could have used for the tax bill and we would have then owned and each been a shareholder in the land and therefore made a profit in any future sale or give the club the right to buy the land back within a period of say 2 years at an agreed price amongst the fans and club ?

Yes, i would like to help, fan power might be the only way forward for our club.

I do think I would of liked to have stopped them having the land, Carl, MY Opinion,As I feel the sales of Our land was all corrupt and well and Truly under valued(Anyone can get 1,2 or 3 Valuations to how they want them), I Voted against any sales, myself and one other person out of 200 Share holders and since then, many have wished they did the same.
This particular land has now been taken over by Macdonalds, The whole Land deals stink. BUT THESE ARE JUST MY OPINION.
We have now sold all our Assets.

Paul Guy/Mike Hall/Alan Whitely and now Gethin Jenkins are all Rugby men and are not helping Cardiff City they are helping themselves, BUT LIKE I SAY JUST MY OPINION.

If i had the money i definitely would have. (As im still in collage would not have had the cash). :ayatollah:

I think the difference between Carl and Annis saying they would have done it (with others) and PMG doing it is massive !!!
PMG saw the desperation of our club and took advantage , Carl and Annis would have done it to help the club ?
You may think "same result" but I think differently

Good shout, PMG have no love of Cardiff City or Asociation football in general, all the Club is to them is a future profit making business opportunity, not a labour of love.

Exactly ...................... Carl you're "in the know" , but even those of us with no access to the club can see how we've been used. It's a similar story to a great book "Rape Of The Fair Country"

Yes I would have helped on that front.

Again we were lied to. They stated that the money for the land was paying off the tax bill, but none of the bill was paid off as far as I'm aware.
Did we actually receive any monies or was it all to pay off some of the debt with PMG????

Part of the money was used to pay the bill but most was used to reduce debt to PMG, and dont forget that 12 months eaqrlier the land was valued over £6 million but PMG got it for £1.9million.

And fans still ask what was it Ridsdale had on the board & major shareholders? The truth is they were all Pigs with their snouts in the trough.

Carl that would have been a great idea and I would have gone for it. But we all know the vultures at PMG were always going to pick at the bones first.

However, taking your idea further I would love either the Trust or even the AAMB Supporters Committee to organise a share savings scheme where by 5,000 fans buy into the academy by making an initial £300 investment followed by further monthly payments of say £10-15.

If an acadamy player is sold in the future, 25% of the selling fee is then return to the investors as a dividend. The club would gain by saving itself sigificant running costs of the academy and still see profits from players coming through the youth ranks.

At the time there was NO OTHER proposal on the table. Nobody else had shown an interest in the land, or put money on the table.

The same fans stump up time and again. The fact that hardly any of the shareholders were interested in the latest issue proves that -and that was AFTER Ridsdale was being booted out and the Malaysians come in.

Its a nice thought from Carl, but the practicality - well, the practicality has been proven by the fact that at no time has anyone else been interested in this - or the House of Sport.

We were basically told if we don't do this then the club can't pay the tax and will go through.

Was I prepared to risk the club going under. No.

Nobody

"MY OPINION"

The shareholders would of said yes to anything as they were told we were saving our club, but do they believe that now ?

Land values are sh1te at the moment anyway.

Whiteley profile nicked from the blog of one of the favourite posters on here.........

Whiteley qualified as a lawyer with Eversheds Solicitors in 1987 and became a partner in the company in 1989. He founded M&A Solicitors with fellow Eversheds partner Stephen Berry in 1999 and is now recognised as one of the country’s leading specialists in corporate and commercial law. During a successful legal career, he has managed a number of high-profile sales and disposals, including the sale of Peter’s Savoury Products to Grand Metropolitan PLC for £75 million.

Whiteley, who has lived most of his life in the Bridgend area, played football for Bryntirion Athletic in the South Wales Amateur League and began supporting Cardiff City during his early-teens. A long-time associate of major shareholder Paul Guy, he joined the Bluebirds’ board following the January 2007 takeover, having previously filled the role of Company Secretary. Around that time, he acquired 1,274,697 shares in the club in his own name and a further 796,686 shares he holds jointly with Stephen Berry, his senior partner at M&A Solicitors. Therefore, Whiteley effectively controls 5% of the club’s current shareholding.

Looks like a football man to me.

ANother intersting thing is Whitely is also a partner in gambit.

A prize of a :ayatollah: for anyone who can tell me what 'Gambit's' link to CCFC is.

More on Whiteley - interests... football, no mention of rugby at all.
Don't forget without him there wouldn't have been any Malaysians..........

Dont agree Tim, I look for land every week and at every Auction they say you cant make land and how scarce it is and it is still fetching Millions. Guy only buys land worth millions.

I've had the same spot of land valued 3 times in the last 6 years. Its now worth less than it was 6 years ago - and at the point in the middle it had doubled.
