Obviously I believe that there will be new signings coming in and that will change the personnel in the team and on the bench.

The positions I would like to see changed would be Centre Halves, hopefully Loovens and a younger up and coming Centre Half in the mould of Roger Johnson or James Collins.

Also would like to see a direct replacement for Jay on the bench too.

If we were able to sign 3 players, 2 centre halves and cover for Jay then I would let Gypese go and let Hudson cover Loovens and Gerrard fight it out with our new centre half.

I have put Gypese in before Gerrard because for me he didn't work well with Hudson.

In that formation I'd put drinkwater in instead of mcphail, otherwise it's a winner.

That would be my team, Whittingham has to play.

The idea behind the 2 defensive midfielder is to protect the back 4 I would think that Whittingham wouldn't be ideal in that position but it's all about opinions

I think that would work Carl. I still reckon we will need a new CB though. That's Centre back, not Craig Bellamy btw.

What you think of the formation ?

I think it's a very exciting formation. Some people would look at is quite defensive only having one up front, but when you look at the five in the middle you realise what an attacking force it would be! With that line up I think we could genuinely camp in the opponents half, string 30 passes together and have people lining up to back-heel the ball into the net! We'd also still have the choice to hoof it up to Jay if required, with amazing options for people running on to his flick-ons. It's all good!

Something we shouldn't forget about yesterday was the number of new players on the pitch, especially in midfield - Bellamy, Oli, Danny, Whitts was out of his usual position on the right at first, then in the middle, also Naylor coming on earlier than he probably expected. Hudson and Gypes haven't really played that many games together. Matthews is also still learning. Take all that into account and look at what we did to Doncaster. Give the lads more game time together and we should be treated to the best football we've ever seen!
