BBC ASK CARDIFF CITY FANS ?

Should Cardiff City try to keep Sabri Lamouchi for next season?

Lamouchi had 18 games in charge, they were never before he arrived in the bottom 3 and were still not when the sesson finished:

1. Had a 6pt cushion and City were 19th in the Championship when Lamouchi arrived.
2. Reading minus 6pts
3. Was not Lamouchi’s team
4. Cardiff were not relegated
5. Finished 21st in the Championship, worst position for 21 years.
6. Lamouchi was not able to bring in any players.
7. Brought some real passion back in the squad and the fans.
8. In 18 games never beat a top 10 Championship team.
9. Jacks beat Cardiff in Cardiff.
10. Won when it really mattered away at Rotherham which secured Championship safety.
11. City’s home record abysmal under Lamouchi.
12.Lamouchi made some costly decisions on his formations.
13. Under Lamouchi a decent Away record.
14. Lamouchi says the Hierarchy don’t correspond or reply to him. Surely that needs sorting ASAP.
15. From Lamouchi’s 54 points available to him he managed to secure 20pts.

Reading minus 6pts

Wigan minus 3pts

I would say yes! He's not the best of the best but he is decent and like every manager needs time.
Can't properly judge him when none of these players were his and he just got chucked in the deep end to work with what he had.
Give him a proper chance I say. He could have good contacts abroad for players, he's got a bit of passion, speaks well and players respect him. How many managers have we gone through in the past few years? We need stability and Lamouchi deserves a proper crack at it I say.

It’s a difficult decision reading all the facts but he inherited a very very poor squad depleted by a string of poor managers before him but what would be the alternative coz I somehow can’t see poch or mourinho being unveiled as manager any day soon so I say give him and Sol a season there’s people hailing Nathan Jones as a potential messiah but his record is atrocious at bigger clubs so he would be a gamble imo just be careful what u wish for lads and ladies as Darren Purse U21 team won yesterday and with VT track record he could promote him lol

The worry for me is that if sabri leaves who will we end up with??? What we can't have is somebody with no experience at all, we've been there and that was almost a disaster. So because of above it's a yes for me but only a year contract and then re-look at it.

He is the best we have had for quite a while but I will only judge him if he can bring in his own players.

We were in a tail spin when he came in and I think we'd have probably gone down had Hudson remained in charge. Is he the man to take us forward, I don't know. To be honest I'm not sure who could take us forward given the year on year reduction in the quality of the squad. Warnock would have got us safe sooner, he's just great at cutting the waste and playing to your strengths but wouldn't have been the man going forward. Looking back it was a miracle he took us up last time given the players available at the time.

Whatever the decision, it needs to be made this week, knowing tan he will leave the decision till july :D

What a question, is he strong enough for Tan, Can he bring some good talent from abroad, probably yes, what options do Cardiff have, I wouldn't want any crap.

We keep him unless we can get anyone better,as that is unlikely its a no brainer.

I think it's obvious to most people that Lamouchi is the only person for the job.

There are better managers out there with more Championship experience of course but they won't work for Tan, especially as they can't spend any money.

Some people live in cuckoo land and think we can attract a top manager but it isn't the case.

So it's 100% a resounding yes to Lamouchi from me, he kept a League One team in the Championship. I expect another struggle next season and it will be tough, but this manager is our best chance.

That's just it but what's he getting from above. Nothing when asking them things he's clearly stated this they don't communicate. Problem is Ian with this current squad in my opinion it don't matter who the manager is as on paper we are more near bottom end of the table with this squad and worse next season I fear if its more of the same but that's down the them clowns above from the boardroom and money from tan whos the puppet master. Won't stop me or others being fans but that's how I see it :bluescarf:

I’m still baffled by those who try to compare his points tally with Hudson.

Lamouchi came into the boiling point stage of a relegation battle with an inherited side that hadn’t won for three months. Hudson or Steve Morison wouldn’t have coped with that amount of pressure. I like most others would have have seen Isaak and Rubin given more chances but the remit was survival and with a way below average squad he didn’t really have much of an option not to use the limited experience at his disposal . There are several who should never play for us again they’re that bad, but SL deserves a window of his own where he can get rid of the deadwood with his own fresh legs.

The point deduction excuse isn’t a reasoned argument either. Literally anything could have happened if Reading or Wigan weren’t penalised. Mindsets, tactics, line ups all changed. Personally I can’t believe this negative shit above has been printed for Sabri to read. I just hope we don’t regret it if he doesn’t agree to a deal. If he does, then we’ll see what job he’s done in a years time after he’s had his own blank canvass

Some stability at least in the Management office is what we need, we ain't got it at Board level, or on the playing field yet. The Man was brought in to do a job, and has succeeded in doing just that ( with all the caveats applied )
In my opinion he has also reconnected with the fans, which in itself is a large achievement given the position we were in.
Give Sabri a chance, to sort " his " wheat from the chaff, and mould a team of his recruitment etc...
The last thing our beloved club needs at this stage is ANOTHER Management merry-go-round...we've sadly got that upstairs with Chipperfield's Circus , Tan and the Ampthill Mob.
My money is with S.L

I was 100% convinced we were going to be relegated when he arrived, we didn’t so give him a chance.

Re: BBC ASK CARDIFF CITY FANS ?

Deserves a chance .
It wasn't his team .
We need stability
The big question for me is why does he want us .He has no budget to spend his will be tied behind his back all season.
If he wants us id sign him up straight away.
What other manager is gonna want to come to us its a disaster zone .

Sign him up i say

Whether we should keep Lamouchi should depend on our ambition. If money is in short supply & survival is the height of our ambition then we might aswell try him out. I'm not overly impressed by his sides results but he's better than Hudson and probably Morrison.

Re: BBC ASK CARDIFF CITY FANS ?

Of course we should keep him..Did a decent job under difficult circumstances

He’s the best we can hope for and should be given the chance to prove himself he has earned that

If he walks we are in real trouble and I dread to think what the 3 muppets will come up with as an alternative!!

I think it's quite likely he can see the potential of the club and is willing to see out the embargo situation, hopeful that funds will be made available for him to build a side thereafter.

Re: BBC ASK CARDIFF CITY FANS ?

People keep saying it wasn't his team which is correct but it's also an excuse for the poor results he has had, Huddersfield weren't Warnock's players either but that didn't stop them winning & lifting themselves up the table.

I am in the 50/50 camp but he was employed to do the job of keeping us up & he did so added to the question of who else would come here I say give him a chance.

Re: BBC ASK CARDIFF CITY FANS ?

Wed May 10, 2023 3:00 pm

It won't matter. No transfers + a smaller budget for contracts=relegation no matter who the manager is.

The only reason we are still in the league is because we paid out decent lian fees for Kipre, Kara and Philogene. Without those three we would be 21 points worse off.

In all fairness, Huddersfield finished 3rd last year nearly thirty points ahead of us. Although some players were sold, they still had the core of a decent side, so Warnock didn't suddenly turn them into world beaters. He did though give them the belief that they could perform better than they had under their previous manager, which they duly did.
