Updated:

Isaak Davies has been to Oxford United and it looks like he will be joining them in League 1 on loan.

For me he’s not good enough as a striker for the Championship 3 goals in 33 games is No where near good enough.

By 22 yrs old you should have made it in the Championship.

Davies is 22 yrs old when the season starts.

Has a lot of pace, but can’t score in the Championship.

If he’s that great like some say then let’s see how many clubs try and buy him?

League 1 Charlton, Oxford and Portsmouth have approached Cardiff for him to go on loan and will pay all his wages.
Hopefully we let him go.

I am hearing Erol Bulut is happy to let him go.

I think he’s got potential myself I just think he needs a loan to get a good few games behind him and get stronger :ayatollah:

I think he has wasted a year with the hope that a kid could walk out of U21 to the championship. Very few can and when they do they end up in the premier league the season after.

He is going to be a player, but need to refine his craft, best for him to drop to L1 and get games

Wez,

It was never happening, they enquired and never offered a penny.
The media as usual blew it up.
Spoke to Bells he said they were watching him, but changed their minds.

Not good enough for the Championship right now, will do him good to have a season in League One. Maybe team up with Harris at Oxford.

With the signings of Meite and Grant, he was always likely to leave.

I like Isaak. He's probably been the most effective off the bench from our home grown bunch. Definately a player there somewhere, hopefully he's sent out to a club and a coach where he can develop.

Re: ‘ Isaak Davies going out ‘

I watch him in the U21 and he was the only one to stand out.

This was the same time as playing alongside Tomlin to. Also Colwill but I did not recognise him then. For me he is one of those who will stand out in the Youth but will struggle in the first team. Shame really.

At 22 it's very doubtful that he'd improve enough for Championship football, his level is probably League 2 if he can stay out of the treatment room. Best get rid not loan out.

At 22 it's very doubtful he'll improve?? Hahaha maybe at 26/28, but he's still young! Loan is correct, in my opinion.

Time will tell

Send him out on a season loan, minimum L1 level. Then go from there.

League 2?

Isaak is much better than league 2. If given a chance he can become a top player.

If he needs to go out on loan to prove that then I think Isaak himself would jump at the chance to play 35 games plus this season.

To say he’s league 2 standard is very harsh, he’s shown he’s got quality, and pace to burn.

Think if he ' wasnt one of our own' he wouldnt be spoke about in the same light.
Send him to Portsmouth and tell them to use him out wide as thats where he should play imho.

Would like to see what he can do when we're on a decent run of form, Isaak's and Colwill's most impressive performances came when we had a good run between January and April 2022.

Totally agree Jules,

I’ve given him loads of benefit of the doubts.

He’s failed for me in the Championship, but will in my view do well in the lower leagues.

Agree bags of pace but no end product. More winger than striker

Yes but minutes wise it is only about 12 or 13 games, the average I should think about 30 mins a game

Well that’s even worse as hardly any managers out of the 7 he has played under have given him much chances.

He was injured, but goal ratio is very very poor.

Well Bulut is also not keen on him and has watched him 5 times.

Agree with you that the ratio to matches poor, but how can you say that 3 goals in 13 matches is worst than 3 goals in 33 matches, also we have just signed a player who last season played 31 games, but minute wise was about 19 games scoring 3 goals, although his record before last season was very good.

Re: Updated: ‘ Isaak Davies going out ‘

Mon Jul 17, 2023 1:45 pm

I know the goals-to-game ratio is poor but I think what will have convinced Bulut, one way or the other, is how often he is putting the ball in the net in training.

If he is not finding the net, in training, then I assume that is why Bulut is keen to offload now.

I think Bulut is in the process of "raising the standard" across all areas of the pitch and if you don't meet that minimum standard then you're out.

This is good for the club and hopefully suitable for Isaak as well.

I never said that,

I am saying managers did not want to give him more game time then so that’s worse.

The facts as a striker Iain the Championship he has failed.

A loan move should benefit his development, but I certainly would not write him off at Championship level.
Firstly, he was unlucky with a bad injury just as he was hitting form.
Secondly, he was part of a squad that struggled poorly last season of which he was rarely played.

Personally, given the chance of a run in a progressive team, along with his pace and trickery, he could be a very influential attacking player in the future and could come back to bite us one day if we should release him.

I agree we need forwards to bag far more goals this season. I only hope the lads we have brought in come up with the goods!

Agree with you on Isaak, I believe he will come good and regular men's football will toughen him up and benefit him in the long run.
I saw glimpses of a decent player there.

Understand where your coming from but not all players develop at same sort of rate. And he hasn't really had a decent manager who knows how to manage the young players for the last couple of seasons. Maybe if he went out on loan 2 seasons ago he's be further on in his development..
Time will tell.
Look at McGuiness, he's a similar age and the loan helped him
