CARDIFF CITY v QPR
Saturday 12th August, 3pm
Sky Bet Championship
Cardiff City Stadium

It’s pay on the day for both sets of supporters:

Let’s get an opening bumper crowd of 25,000.

Cardiff City: Alnwick; Ng, Goutas, McGuinness, O'Dowda; Wintle, Adams; Bowler, Ramsey, Grant; Ugbo.

Subs: Luthra, Simpson, Romeo, Collins, Rinomhota, Tanner, Robinson, R. Colwill, Etete

Ryan Alsop will be out for a bit longer.

Other injuries in the squad?

Bulut: "Yakou Meite has a problem with his muscle. I think he will be out for 10 days. It started in Portugal a little bit, then he was getting better and he started to have a small pain.

"I think one week to 10 days, hopefully earlier."

That’s 2 games in a row some costly mistakes.

Can’t see it happening v QPR as I see them the whipping boys of the Championship.

Ryan Alsop is out injured.

The Opposition's Manager

Gareth Ainsworth is a familiar name to use, having made nine appearances for the Bluebirds as a player in a short spell back in 2003.

He was appointed QPR boss in February, having had a longer spell with them as a player between 2003 and 2010 - making over 140 appearances.

He has struggled at QPR. They have lost nine of his fourteen games in charge.

He previously did a great job as Wycombe manager, getting them promoted from League Two all the way to the Championship.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Lyndon Dykes had ten goal involvements in the league last season. He is an experienced striker in the Championship and for Scotland.

Ilias Chair is an obvious danger man with nine league assists last season. In each of the last four seasons, he's had at least ten goal involvements.

Head To Head

We drew 0-0 at home to QPR in our last fixture against them on Boxing Day last year.

We have lost three of our last five meetings against them, with the only win in that time coming in March 2022 at Loftus Road.

Our last home win against them was all the way back in October 2019.

Team News - Predicted Line-Ups

Cardiff City: Alnwick, Ng, McGuinness, Goutas, O'Dowda, Wintle, Ralls, Ramsey, Bowler, Grant, Ugbo

QPR: Begovic, Kakay, Fox, Gubbins, Paal, Dozzell, Field, Kelman, Smyth, Chair, Dykes

Last Game

We began our league season with a 2-2 draw at Leeds. We also played Colchester at home in the Carabao Cup First Round on Wednesday and won 3-0 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

QPR lost their first league game 4-0 at Watford. Their game against Norwich at home in the Carabao Cup First Round was delayed until next week due to the Loftus Road pitch needing more recovery time follow major work done to it.

Match Odds

Cardiff City - Evens
QPR - 13/5
Draw - 13/5

I hope we can get our first win on Saturday. After the way QPR played last week, you would think that the players have to respond, the fans will be demanding it. Hopefully we can get an early goal and build on it. I'll stick my neck out and say 3-1 City, goals from Ramsey, Grant and Goutas :bluebird: :bluebird:

Erol Bulut on injuries:

"Yakou Meite has a problem with his muscle. I think he will be out for 10 days. It started in Portugal a little bit, then he was getting better and he started to have a small pain.”

Struggled last season with injuries as well.

injured again…

QPR fitness update

QPR will have new signing Steve Cook available this weekend, while Jack Colback is touch and go for the game at Cardiff City Stadium.

Cook becomes the R’s seventh summer signing and speaking to the club ahead of this weekend, boss Gareth Ainsworth said he’s "hoping to have him [Cook] involved at Cardiff".

And speaking about Colback, who signed a two-year deal at QPR, Ainsworth added: “Jack is also close to making his first start. We’re monitoring him very closely to see if he can make the trip.”

Team news
Many will be keeping an eye out for Cook and whether he makes his QPR debut this weekend. Ainsworth said on the matter:

“Steve’s going to be a real leader for us. We’re hoping to have him involved at Cardiff.”

And Ainsworth also said in his pre-match press conference that Jack Colback is closing in on making his debut too, though whether he features this weekend remains to be seen.

Elsewhere, Ainsworth ruled out Jake Clarke-Salter and Jimmy Dunne, with the latter having undergone a procedure on a shoulder injury picked up in pre-season.

We should be beating QPR today, worst team in the league for my money.

If we don't, I'll be worried.

Adams with a wonderful interception there to stop Steve Cook's pass through the middle of the park. He's been City's best player so far.

This is why he shouldn’t be at left back. Can do a job there if needs be, but shouldn’t be there week in and week out.
Grant having a shocker too!
