At the last moment

Sory Kaba now expected to seal a £1.3million move to Spanish side Las Palmas tomorrow. Blow for Birmingham who also agreed a fee and Watford were also in running for the FC Midtjylland striker. Kaba due to fly to Spain on Friday for medical after agreeing terms

Birmingham City have agreed a fee of “ £1.5mill “ to sign FC Midtjylland striker Sory Kaba.

Kaba, 28, spent the second half of last season with Championship side Cardiff City. He netted eight goals and laid on one assist in 17 games for the Bluebirds, playing a vital role in keeping them in the division.

Cardiff City asked to loan Kaba again, but a fee was asked for.

Such a shame. I would have loved to have seen him back this season, but as mentioned they wanted a loan fee. I think that's how we'll get stung with Kieffer Moore. Bournemouth will want a loan fee. :sad7:

Kaba's all-round game was a little suspect, but he definitely knew where the goal was. His 8 goals were priceless!!

His all round play was absolutely dreadful but he scored goals so has to be regarded as a success when he was with us

However, I do have major reservations about this player if his goals dry up he offers nothing and is a virtual passenger

Big gamble at nearly £2 million?

Loved him at our place and did a great job.
Good signing for blues.

I don't think they will dry up, a good Striker knows where to be, like Andy Cole, not the best player in the world but at his level was always there to tap it in.

Forever blue

I agree he tried to always get the fans going wanted to be apart of it all away at rotherham last season he was waving his arms about trying to get the fans going did'nt see any of that saturday from anyone on the pitch.

I don’t think £1.5mil is a gamble. He is a striker and he clearly knows where the goal is. Lots of strikers become icons without doing that these days such as Firmino so to find a striker who is actually able to put the ball away for £1.5mil is a steal

Good luck to him, will score goals at this level.

It's true his all round play isn't great but his job is to score goals.

The same can be said for Ugbo, who has had a good start with two goals in two.

I never rated his skills.

But his desire YES / His goals YES / His bond with our Fans YES

£1.5mill is nothing today

We are where we are. SK was never coming back due to our present circumstances and it is pointless crying over it.

He deserves his chance with Birmingham City and good luck to him apart from hopefully the 3 stinkers he'll have against us.

How simple it is to tell Tan to use his own money to pay the Sala fee, I wonder if it was the fans money out of their own pocket if we would never pay it. We have Ugbo with 2 goals in 2 games if he keeps this up he will score more than Haaland. Robinson was scoring till he got injured. Despite the poor result against QPR we are scoring in every game, we should be winning but the defence keep letting in simple goals. The priority then is to start keeping clean sheets that is how you win games.

As my children prove time and again it is so easy to spend someone else's money :laughing6: I can't understand for one minute what it feels like to spend £20m on something (in this case a football player) and get absolutely nothing in return due to circumstances beyond the club's control.

To add insult to injury that money went to a load of dodgy football agents and a club that is facing a serious corruption investigation.

Having read this board for months I know it is not fashionable to speak up for Vincent Tan but on the Sala transfer I wish him all the best in fighting through the courts to re-coup his money.

As for your comments on the team, I fully agree our defence needs to start shaping up.

Kind of gutted about this as 1.5 mill is nothing in todays market. He will do well at this level, especially after the amount of goals he scored in a struggling team.

The general play of both Kaba and Ugbo is very poor. Neither offer anything outside the penalty box but they score goals which is their main job. I do however think Moore is a better player all round. Fingers crossed something can be done to get him here.

If our ownership didn't guude us to this embargo, maybe he'd be our player. Mini-cult hero for some performances last season. Best of luck, I hope he does well.

I think we may have escaped one here. Could be totally wrong but i think as squad player maybe but leading number 9 not so sure. Good in and around the box but I wouldn't put him ahead of Moore or even Rudy Gestede

Could be like a lex immers, come on loan have a purple patch. I think he will get goals with pure effort but how many not so sure. Great character though and his energy and effort alone made you want to support him.

Loved him when he was here but dreadful skills though he seemed to know where the goal was. If Brum don’t play to his strengths (early balls into the box) I feel he could fail there. No doubt he’ll do exactly the same in a Birmingham shirt, geeing up the fans etc.

I've always suspected Kaba was a pretty limited player who got on a flukey scoring streak. Be interesting to see how he does at Brum

Kaba twist

Spanish reports state Las Palmas closed an agreement to sign Sory Kaba on Monday, pouring fresh doubt on a reported move to Cardiff City's Championship rivals Birmingham City.

The Telegraph reported earlier this week that the Blues had moved into snatch Kaba away from the La Liga outfit and Watford, who were said to be in the race to sign the former Cardiff loan man.

Not going to lie, it would be nice if he didn’t sign for another team in the championship, and a sigh of relief!

Re: ‘ Sory Kaba joins Championship Club ‘

Sory Kaba's future is set to be resolved in the very near future. Birmingham City are understood to be interesting in the forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City and ended up playing a key role in ensuring that Blues' Championship rivals avoided relegation at the end of the season with eight goals.

Striker Kaba, 28, who plays for FC Midtjylland, has also reportedly attracted the interest of Spanish outfit UD Las Palmas. Indeed reports coming out of Spain have even suggested that the club have agreed a fee with Midtjylland and the player is set to head back to Spain having had a previous spell with Elche.
