INJURY NEWS?

Yes. We have an injury from the last game. Josh Bowler. His calf and his tendon. Maybe it looks like he will not be with us for the next game.

I hope it’s only one game and then he will be with us.

He started well. Maybe this injury is because he didn’t have games before with Nottingham Forest. Then he came into the starting XI from this position, so maybe it’s that.

Bulut

No Mahlon Romeo?

He had a red card from last week. We shouldn’t have had that, but it was a red card. We have to be more careful with that and the kind of red cards we are getting. In defence we have fewer options, so we have to be more careful with cards generally.

TEAM NEWS: :bluebird:

Perry Ng had a slight knock and was unavailable for the Leicester game, but should be ok for this Saturday :bluebird:

The Opposition's Manager

Xisco Munoz took over at Hillsborough this summer, following the departure of Darren Moore.

He previously had a spell in charge of Watford.

While at Watford, he got them promoted to the Premier League.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Lee Gregory is likely to lead the line for the visitors, he already has one Championship goal this season. Over the last two seasons for Wednesday, he's scored 28 league goals.

Barry Bannan is also an obvious danger man.

Head To Head

Last time we played Wednesday, they thrashed us 5-0 at Hillsborough in a Championship fixture in April 2021.

We also lost our last home game against them 2-0 in September 2020.

Those are our two defeats against them in the last five meetings, with us just having one win in that time.

Team News - Predicted Line-Ups

Cardiff City: Alnwick, Ng, McGuinness, Goutas, Collins, Wintle, Ralls, Ramsey, O'Dowda, Bowler, Ugbo

Sheffield Wednesday: Vasquez, Palmer, Iorfa, Diaby, Famewo, Byers, Diaby, Bannan, Delgado, Musaba, Gregory

Last Game

We lost to a late winner at Leicester on Saturday, but put in a good performance.

On the same day, Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 at home to Preston.

Match Odds

Cardiff City - Evens
Sheffield Wednesday - 5/2
Draw - 9/4

Aaron Ramsey:

"If you look at the first half against Leeds, we were very well organised, created a few chances and took them," he said. "Against Leicester, we did it in the second half and I thought we frustrated them a lot and had a bit more quality as well. There was more belief as well to go and hurt them, but we just couldn't quite nick that second goal to really stamp our authority on the game.”

"These are things we need to learn from and put into the next big game against Sheffield Wednesday."

“We must go out to win this game and play well in both half’s.”

"The fans turned out in their numbers, which is absolutely brilliant. For me to share that moment with them was really special and I wanted to make the effort to get to them and celebrate with them. It was a nice moment for me, giving back again.

"On a personal note, I'm very happy to be back and scoring again in a Cardiff City jersey."

Ramsey scored his first goal for Cardiff in more than 12 years and it was an absolute stunner. A 30-yard rocket which soared into the top corner. It left the King Power Stadium stunned and got City back on level terms. It was a goal worthy of earning his side a draw, but that Cesare Casadei strike in injury time put paid to that.

Nevertheless, nothing should be taken away from the strike, which was pure and wonderful. Speaking about his goal, the midfielder added: "I fancied it, especially after last week hitting the bar. I was gutted not to score at home. I couldn't have struck it any better today. Thankfully it went in the top corner.

"It was one of them days where I'm buzzing to finally score again in that shirt but disappointed not to come away with something.”

Sheffield Wednesday man Josh Windass says the Owls will be OK this season but must cut out "silly" goals and mistakes we are making at the back.”

The Hillsborough side have yet to get off the mark this season, losing all three Championship games ahead of their trip to south Wales on Saturday.

They've let in seven goals too, which must give the Bluebirds hope that they can get their first win of the campaign at the weekend.

"It’s been fine," Windass said of the step up to the Championship. "Obviously the results don’t suggest that and we are yet to get a point.”

“We have just been conceding silly goals and everything gets highlighted a lot more when you're losing games. We probably conceded goals like this last year in League One, but we were scoring more and winning more, so it wasn’t highlighted.”

"When we start winning games again, which I’m sure will be very soon, all of that will be forgotten. Obviously, you want to get your first win on the board very quickly and push on and we’ll be trying to do that and win as many games as we can. Personally, I just want to do the best I can for the team and score as many goals as possible

“It’s easier to score when the team is winning and you’re playing better football but as it stands, we need to get the team together, focus, and push on together.”

Defender will miss Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Cardiff City

Cardiff City defender, Mahlon Romeo, will be missing in action when Sheffield Wednesday visit the Bluebirds this coming weekend.

The 27-year-old was given his first Championship start of the campaign over the weekend, coming in at right back as Erol Bulut sought a return to winning ways, and they very nearly came away from promotion favourites, Leicester City, with a point.

It wasn’t to be, though, with Cesare Casadei getting an injury time winner for the Foxes, before it went from bad to worse for Cardiff as Romeo was shown two quickfire yellow cards in the remaining minutes of added time as he was sent for an only slightly early bath.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR -

The Owls currently sit at the foot of the Championship table, having lost their opening three matches of the campaign.

On the opening day of the season, Muñoz’s men fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Southampton, despite striker Lee Gregory getting on the scoresheet.

A trip to Hull City followed, which resulted in a 4-2 defeat, with Turkish midfielder Ozan Tufan netting a hat-trick for the hosts.

Last time out, the Owls were beaten 1-0 by Preston North End, as Liam Lindsay found a second half winner.
