Charlton Athletic plot Cardiff City transfer move

The Addicks will be keeping their fingers crossed that transfer dominos fall in the right way at the Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff striker Kion Etete is set to be made available for a loan spell away from the club, according to reports.

Etete has struggled for form at the start of the season, but has scored twice in the League Cup against Colchester United and last night against Birmingham City.

However, in relation to a potential move to Charlton Athletic, South London Press claim Etete could be made available for a loan before Friday's deadline.

I hope so he's garbage imo

Can only see this happening if we have a certainty coming in.

Agree, this will probably only happen if we get Moore or someone else.

He just isn't strong enough at this stage in his career to be a championship target man, he will in time but he is against brutes not U21's.

A loan will be best all round

Re: Kion Etete

From day one you could see he is not a Championship player, madness to even consider.
But shouted down by the usual suspects.

He is on the list to go.

Failed at Non League Notts County, Northampton and Cheltenham .

Glen Williams made out we signed a Tottenham player who in 3 yrs never played for them.

Re: Kion Etete

I hope this doesnt happen. Etete is better than several other forwrds already, and he will only get even :bluebird: better in the next few years. I definitely would not sell, and would rather keep him.

Etete had failed at Northampton, Notts County (Non League)and Cheltenham, but Glen Williams put out he was a Tottenham player, in 3 yrs he never ever played for them.

I’ll carry him there on my back

if he dont bang in 15 plus we got to ship him out im sick of our club hanging on to players with a what if above their head its such a backward way of running a club. :old:

He'll come good, There is a player in there but there are not many 21-year-old target men.

Just imagine how physically strong Morrison and Bamba are and then think of his slight frame backing in against them and either one of them just holding him with one arm, then think of Keiffer who is a decade older

How long do we have him for ?

Didn’t we say Tanner would never make it?

He needs to fill out his frame, a bit like Colwill.

There’s definitely a player in there!

The jury still out for me on Tanner and I want to be proved wrong.
Has he made it?

As to not make it, sadly I have had about 30/30 under this Regime, be honest to yourself and NO Bullshit you only have to look at all the players they said would make it and we’ve had big doubts and rightly so.

I have always maintained Rubin Colwill will.

Badly failed at Notts County / Northampton and Cheltenham.

We get have been getting rejects before this season under the previous few managers

Etete is a good player , he’s good with his feet for a lanky skinny kid , he’s gonna prove the doubters wrong , I’ve seen glimpses of quality

I like Etete. I think he's a decent finisher and in good positions. 6 month loan may work, anything greater than that then I fear we may not see him again.

I agree, I think he’s got it but he’s not ready yet to be the main striker.
I think he’s a great back up/squad player for now but better if we loan him.

The report says we won’t loan him unless we get a replacement which makes perfect sense.

What age do you think he will be ready for the Championship??

I’m sure you rated Steve Morison? Mark Harris etc etc the opposite every time Hmmmmmm

Good move for player and club I reckon. I quite like him and think there is potential. He impressed me towards the end of last season but that form hasn't continued into this one. A loan, a bit like with McGuiness last year, could work out well...I'd like him back with us eventually though to see if he can kick on at all

Many players do better at a later age.

He’s raw, and a run of games is what he needs.

It’s up to him to push where he needs to improve, not just rely on his height (even though he doesn’t do well with this either).

We need to clear dead wood and Etete is, league 2

Mate, what many City players make it at a later age? I can’t think of any?

Didn’t say City, just that it does happen in football. A lot does depend on the player.

Loaning him out is an opportunity for him to take and work on his game, if he doesn’t improve then of course we can look to offload permanently. If he does take a step forward, then we reassess.

Hes one of the most improved players in the Club the last 12 months, a loan could do him wonders like it did for Wintle. I wouldn't write him off just yet .

Then Wez, he must of been worse than I had thought.

If he’s good then I suspect at 22 yrs old Bulut will start him more in the Championship.

39 appearances / 3 goals Striker Bluebirds

I think a loan to Charlton is perfect. I feel with Coaching and development there is a player of promise.

Re: Kion Etete on his way ?

Towards the end of last season Etete was given more of a chance and put in some good performances. If we loan him, we need to make sure he comes back. He should be a part of our building a decent team! And personally, I think even at the present time he is a better player than a few other of our attacking players.

It seems he divides opinion 50/50 on this thread. Imo if he stays fit he will be a really decent player. Time will tell.

To give some context, at Etete’s age Kieffer Moore was at Yeovil Town scoring 7 goals in 50 appearances, so I definitely would not be writing Etete off yet!
