The Opposition's Manager

Mark Robins is in his second spell as Coventry boss.

He was initially in charge between 2016 and 2017. He did a good job in that period, before leaving to take the job at Huddersfield.

He returned to Coventry in March 2017. Since then, he has done a brilliant job. A month after his return, they won the EFL Trophy.

The following year, in 2018, they were promoted to League One by winning the League Two play-offs.

Then in 2020, he got them promoted to the Championship as they won the League One title.

They finished 5th last season and lost on penalties to Luton Town in the Championship play-off final.

He has also had spells in charge of Rotherham, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Scunthorpe.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Matt Godden scored eight goals in the league last season and has four in all competitions so far this season. He is Coventry's only player to have scored more than one goal so far this season.

Haji Wright has one league goal this season, and scored 15 in the league in Turkey last season.

Head To Head

We have won two of our last five meetings against Coventry. The last of those was at CCS in February 2022 in a Championship fixture.

Coventry have also won two of the last five meetings, most recently at CCS last October in a Championship game.

The last meeting with them was a 0-0 draw, in our Championship game against them at their stadium last December.

Re: LATEST NEWS " CARDIFF CITY v COVENTRY CITY " MATCH THREA

Coventry City are set to be without key midfielder Ben Sheaf for at least a couple of weeks after he suffered a groin strain in training.

The Sky Blues player pulled up at Ryton on Thursday during the squad’s preparation work for Hull, forcing the 25-year-old to miss the 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium on Friday night.

Skipper Liam Kelly filled in alongside Josh Eccles in his absence and looks to be in for a run in the side while Sheaf recovers.

Asked what the player has done, Mark Robins said: “He’s strained his groin. Well, it’s actually an adductor (a muscle group in the inner thigh) and he’ll be out for an unspecified period of time. It’s going to be at least a couple of weeks, I would have thought.”

Watched them the other night against Hull. Solid enough outfit but not what they were now their 2 superstars have left. Will take a lot of breaking down as they are well organised.

Any sign Of Bowler back on the pitch, I think we really missed a natural right wing that first half against the swans. I felt as if Bowler or Tanner had started instead of Ugbo we would have been a few up at half time.
I'm guessing he can't be far off as he was the first at the ground Saturday evening with bag in hand. Could he have possibly had a late fitness test ???
Right now i feel with Miete through the middle and the options of Bowler/Tanner/Grant and Odowda out wide when their all fit as an excellent position to be in. I fail to see how these guys can't continue to improve each game knowing the competition for places is strong.
Same goes for the centre of the park where we have the likes of Robo/Colwill/Adams/Rino and Ralls all ready to step in. Plus I'm hoping Panzo turns out to be as good as people say he is.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SUMMER BUSINESS -

It’s been a summer of changes for the Sky Blues. Key players Viktor Gyökeres and Gustavo Hamer, who recorded 30 goals and 20 assists between them last term, have moved on to Sporting Lisbon and Sheffield United respectively.

Robins added no less than 11 new players to his squad ahead of this season, including big money moves for strikers Haji Wright and Ellis Simms. Wright arrived from Turkish side Antalyaspor and has seven appearances at international level for the USA. Simms already has Championship experience, having shown promise in a loan spell at Sunderland last term.

Other key arrivals for the Sky Blues include defenders Liam Kitching and Milan van Ewijk from Barnsley and Heerenveen respectively.

The Sky Blues have also added to their squad with the signings of goalkeeper Brad Collins along with defenders Bobby Thomas, Jay Dasilva, Luis Binks and Joel Latibeaudiere.

In midfield, Yasin Ayari has joined on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, while winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto arrives from Belgian side KV Oostende.

Manager Mark Robins:

“We’ve been on a bad run, but we will get back on track.”

Regarding Coventry’s last game:

“I know we're going to be really good. It's that process of getting there and when we say about, if you come away from home and draw a game, every point is a really good point, it's just a matter of it's disappointing because that was avoidable.

“We could have gone on and won the game because there were chances to go and win it and we just gave the ball away. It just didn't look fluid there and that's the next bit when we've got to try and get up to speed for want of the better phrase.”

Strong side, we need to be winning this. Surprised to see Siopis in from the start after his shift Saturday. He must be a natural endurance man.

Did not expect Ramsey to start but surprised he is not on the bench If we are struggling on need a touch of class he could have always come on if needed for 15/20 mins and if not needed just not come on

Can see what Bulut means about Tanner 5 times already he just doesn't seem switched on, not focused missing out on quick passes and one two etc

Dominating them but again poor concentration costs us, got to be much better defensively because going forward we cause teams problems

City dominated until the equaliser, then Coventry came back into it.

We're definitely the better team and the game is there to be won.

Haha always half time Internet goes poo, they blocking it or something.

Couple tweaks and we can win this, most of Cov possession we gave them. Some decent chances made in the first half, hopefully get some more with someone getting on the end of them

This 4-1-4-1 ain't been working since 15 mins before end of first half as cov changed changed shape to 3-4-1-1 unless we get a lucky goal we will lose this if the manager don't change the shape I feel. Cov well on top.now although no chances really.
