Erol Bulut to rest many of his first team that played at Sunderland.

Erol Bulut on injuries:

‘Karlan had a leg injury from the last game. It was opened up 2-3cm, so he played with pain. Aaron Ramsey was sick and still had a knock, He came to us and said he didn't feel well, so it was better to leave him home. He has a fever, so we'll have to see what is going on.’

Ewood Park

Blackburn have played their home games at Ewood Park since 1890.

It was effectively completely rebuilt in the early 90s, with the reconstruction of all four stands completed in 1994.

The stadium currently has a capacity of 31,367.

The record attendance of 61,783 dates back to 1929 when they played Bolton in an FA Cup game.

The Opposition's Manager

Jon Dahl Tomasson was appointed Blackburn manager last summer.

They only missed out on the play-offs last season on goal difference, having competed for the top six for virtually the whole season.

He previously managed Malmo, where he won the Swedish title twice.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Hard to predict who will play in this game as both teams are likely to make changes.

But in the last round, John Buckley impressed with two goals. Sam Gallagher was also on the scoresheet and also has a league goal.

Head To Head

We have won just one of our last five meetings with Blackburn, which came when we played them at home in the league last season.

They have won three of those meetings - including last season in the league at Ewood Park.

We haven't won away at Blackburn in our last seven visits there. The last came in December 2012 in a Championship fixture.

Team News - Predicted Line-Ups

Both teams are expected to make a number of changes from their team that played in the league at the weekend.

Last Game

Blackburn lost 4-3 at Ipswich on Saturday in the league, while we won 1-0 at Sunderland.

In the last round of the cup, we won 3-1 at Birmingham. Blackburn thrashed Harrogate 8-0.

Match Odds

Blackburn Rovers - 19/20
Cardiff City - 11/4
Draw - 13/5

Jon Dahl Tomasson has revealed Arnor Sigurdsson’s half-time substitution against Ipswich Town was pre-planned.

The Icelandic international was handed a surprise debut at Portman Road, in what was his first competitive appearance for the club. After two months on the sidelines with a groin injury, this was the Tomasson’s first opportunity to use the forward in the Championship.

Sigurdsson justified his selection by scoring his first goal for the club.

“He has been missing for a long time so he needs to get up to speed. We know he needs games as well.”

Sigurdsson could be involved against Cardiff City on Wednesday night as he looks to further build his fitness.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR -

Rovers opened their Carabao Cup campaign with a seven-goal thriller against Walsall, in which Blackburn came out 4-3 winners.

In the second round against League Two outfit Harrogate Town, Tomasson’s side put in a clinical performance to claim an emphatic 8-0 win.

In the Championship, Rovers have claimed three wins from their opening eight matches.

Currently mid-table in the second-tier, Blackburn head into Wednesday night’s fixture on the back of a 4-3 defeat to Ipswich Town.

Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson looks set to be without Ryan Hedges for some time after he limped off against Ipswich Town at the weekend.

The winger, who came on at half-time, lasted just eight minutes after sustaining an ankle knock. Hedges' injury could hand an opportunity to Dilan Markanday, who replaced him at Portman Road.

Cardiff could ring the changes, with their squad now deeper than in previous seasons.

Josh Bowler and Callum O'Dowda have missed the last few matches with their respective injuries and are still believed to be returning to full fitness. Aaron Ramsey missed the trip to Sunderland at the weekend and will unlikely be risked in the cup.

I doubt it, Blackburn's stadium will be in good enough condition for the game to go ahead.

No suggestion that the game will be postponed.
