Well done Liam ftom Caerphilly. Put your point across re plastic supporters very well. Goldstein tried his best to confuse your argument but you stood firm.

The subject was whether it was ok to support a team that’s not local to you. AG was saying that it was. Liam from Caerphilly said that it’s unlikely that you’d have the same passion for your team if they weren’t local to you. AG argued that it was indeed possible and tried a few methods to prove this but Liam stood firm citing the local buzz after ccfc beat the jacks was incredible. After the call Darrrn bent actually said that he could ‘see where he was coming from’.

I have supported Cardiff for my whole life and not far off drawing pension so that gives you a clue for how long . I don’t agree that your can’t not be a fan and be passionate if you live away from the area or not even brought up there. People can decide what ever team they want.
I have a friend who is a mad West Ham fan. Born in Cardiff , raised in Cardiff and still lives in Cardiff. When he started to support them was early 70s aa some one gave him the West Ham top None of his family are hammers fans and he has followed them home and away for a good 40 years now.

He did state that he meant people who have an affinity to the area would be more passionate. That would include Annis and I assume yourself.

Goldstein asked exactly that and the reply was that your local team will (should) always be your number one team, even when you move away.

Which is the exact opposite of what you said earlier.

Make your mind up.

Then should my boys support their local team as they have never lived in Cardiff They all have been Cardiff City season ticket holders and never lived within 50 miles of Cardiff. There is more that comes into the equation when supporting a team that just locality ( thou that is the biggest part)

My girls have always lived in Derby. One of them has seen Cardiff play more times than any of her male friends have watched Forest/Derby/Leicester all together and who all claim to be football fanatics. What is a comforting fact is if she becomes good she will represent Wales over that other country.

I don't think this Liam has thought carefully over what he has said.

I am pretty much a manic cardiff fan accoring to the misses i live in drenewydd newtown but have followed city for 30 years home and away its been my chosen welsh team but have been a regular to cardiff in the motorhome for over 20 years or just down to the game with my other 2 cardiff fan mates from here.
So make of that what you will.

He seemed as if he had but perhaps I’m not putting his views across that well :D
His original point was that south wales is full of plastic mamas smd scousers something g I’m sure we can all relate to I’m sure, even though there are no doubt some genuine cases that can be argued.

I agree reference the plastic fans that claim to be fans but have never been to see their team live.

You can live far away and be passionate, but that passion should probably include visiting the team you claim to support at least once in a while!

I know so many Liverpool fans in South Wales that haven't even been to Liverpool let alone Anfield!

My granddaughter was one of them until I put her right. She's now thankfully seen the light and has for the past 3 seasons followed City all over as a season ticket holder and she's just 17. Very proud.

Besides actually being there cheering your team on ‘support’ also involves a financial commitment buying season tickets/match tickets, programs, merchandise etc etc

I agree...I live so so far away and keep renewing iFollow for 6 years now, I still feel passionate despite being away for nearly 7 years, simply because I attended games and I know what it's like to be in the Canton, and I miss the feeling really...
Some fans I know in China never went to CCS, they probably have passion in them at one point, but you just know that it won't be long...

Exactly Ian,

Pathetic to say because I live or you live away we are not as passionate or don’t get excited as much.

Correct Ian,

Born in Cardiff, bought my first season ticket in 1972, Never failed to renew, I think only 4 others have renewed more than me.

Absolutely buzzing when I come to the games and I travel back.
From the age of 13 to 34 yrs old never missed a game and in league 4 , 9 yrs I never missed a home or away game.

Dickhead clown Liam and who ever backs what he says

Re: Cardiff fan just on Talksport

I’m a lifelong Cardiff fan and lived in Merseyside for over 12 years now, surrounded by Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere fans. I have no interest in going to any of their games and can’t imagine following a team away from where I indentify, which is a Welshman from Cardiff. My son watched his first south wales derby with me the other week and said he’s never seen me ‘go physco’ like that before, he doesn’t understand what that game meant to me and he won’t because he’s not born and bred in cardiff, he has an affinity to the club because of me and comes to games but it’ll never be the same.
