If we played Wrexham in the FA Cup

Sun Nov 05, 2023 12:01 pm

That would be quite the battle of Wales.

Think that would sell out if I’m honest.

I wouldn’t be totally confident of winning either.

I would with Bulut in charge, compared to the last 4 managers.

Wouldn’t sell out at our place probably would at the racecourse

We would beat them probably 1-0, 2-1 something like that I would imagine

If this was Cardiff of last few years I’d say we’d lose but I think we’d beat them comfortably with Bulut in charge

I think they would bring a lot

Not a chance would it sell out at CCS. We always get very low crowds at home against lower league opposition. May get a few more because it's Wrexham but still wouldn't be anywhere near our normal league crowd, let alone capacity.

It would sell out at their stadium, which only holds 10,000 at the moment until their stand behind the goal is rebuilt, but they sell out every game.

We would obviously not play our first team still would be likely to beat them.

For the hype, they are still just a League Two team and not even top of their division.

The 1977 FA cup game that we won 3-2 is a game that I will always remember, great ending to an FA cup game.

I think you would be surprised.

They would bring 6,000 I reckon. We would enjoy the novelty value.

They played very well against a good Sheff Utd team so if we played the reserves we would get beat.

They are better than a league two club.

If they're better than League Two then why aren't they running away with the league?

I didn't say reserves, just not first team regulars. That would be enough to beat a League Two team.

They may bring a few fans (not as many as 6k) but there'd be little interest in a home game against a fourth tier team for a lot of Cardiff fans.

Some people seem to think they're a big attraction but certainly not at our level.

We'd be lucky to get 10k for it.

Hope we don't get drawn against them if they win in the next round, especially at home, as it's a bit of a boring tie to be drawn at home to a L2 club in my opinion.

Would prefer to play a non league team away.

I think they will go up again.

Notts County are also good. A few good teams in that league.

100% more than 10k

Have to disagree.
If they did a double promotion and we played them first home game of the season we could well get 23-25 thousand. Not FA Cup though. 12-15 tops imo.

We'd get nowhere near capacity which is what you said in your original post.

Put it this way, we played Leeds in the third round last season. They were in the Premier League at the time and the crowd was just over 20k.

Wouldn't even get close to that against any League Two team.

I stand by that.

It’s all hypothetical anyway unless we draw them.

See McLean is playing up again?

What a classic. 2-0 up and we let them back in. It was Ashcroft I think who got the equaliser in the last minutes. I was making my way off the Grange End contemplating a trip up to North Wales in the week for the replay when Steve Grapes got to the bye line and rolled the ball back to John Buchanan to place it into the corner of the net. Mayhem!!!. It was one of the games on MOD in the days when they only had 2 games on.

Many had left before John Buchanan scored the 90th minute winner to end a quite incredible match - I was 15 and still rate it as one of the best games I ever saw at NP :bluescarf:

100% there would be more than 10k there and I think they’d probably sell out a large away allocation. I think 15k plus would be likely, I certainly know people who would go who don’t go weekly.

Their owners would also likely make the trip for such a draw and Senedd etc would make a meal of it.

The last sentence probably explains why it wouldn’t be a sellout.

All show IMHO and they have loaned around the football club £10m at an eye watering 7%

I'd love it if we drew them in the cup. Easy passage to the next round. For context, James McLean is ripping it up for them. Last seen way off the pace for Wigan at our level, and I recall Marlon Pack out-running him.

Levels.
