Ross County have parted company with manager Malky Mackay with the club sitting second bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
Mackay took charge in May 2021 and led them to a top-six finish in his first season.
County avoided relegation last season with a dramatic play-off victory over Partick Thistle in Dingwall.

Mackay's last game in charge was a 1-0 defeat at St Johnstone
They have failed to win any of their last eight league matches and, after a meeting between chairman Roy MacGregor, chief executive Steven Ferguson and Mackay, a decision was made that a change was required.
A club statement said: "
Malky has brought so much more to the club and the wider staff than just football management," said MacGregor.
"
The board would like to put on record our thanks for his contribution over the last two-and-a-half years and wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career."
It was Mackay's first full-time managerial role since being sacked by Wigan Athletic seven years ago.
The ex-Watford and Cardiff boss ended a four-year spell as the Scottish FA's performance director in November 2020.

Malky worked wonders there. Kept them up last season..
Always difficult to get players to go
to a Highland club.
Ross County based in Dingwall. It has a population of 5,491

Spot on I doubt Pep would have done better with the squad and budget

Macky was sacked in December as Cardiff manager if he had stayed all season I'm convinced he would have kept us up in the Premier league.

With one point in seven games. His last home game was that debacle v Southampton.
We were going one way and one way only.
Massively over rated manager who wasted so much money.

There were 1000s shouting dont sack Malky at Liverpool.
I was one of then
He signed a few good players, as well
Medal for one
There was a transfer window coming up what did ole do
Bring in 3 Icelandic players
No fucker had heard of
Ole took Whits off in one of the home games
put one of the 3 on
First touch he lost the ball on the half way line
and yes, we conceded a goal
Ole nearly went to Villa before coming to us They had a lucky escape
It was Ole who fucked us ip. Clueless

With Tan on his back 24/7.

Agree Malky would have kept us up. A mature Sports Director would have sorted all the issues out, with Malky and Tan.

You call your boss a slanty eyed so and so,theres no going back from that in any walk of life not just football. He could of had us top of the prem and it still would have made no difference.I liked what he did in his time at the club but he fecked up big time and thats all on him and no-one else.

That’s something that can never be proven.
Pure conjecture.
He had lots of money, so much money we should have been better prepared for the premier league.
When he was sacked the two teams who went up with us were above us, having spent a lot less to go up and a lot less in an effort to stay up.
Why is that?? Because they had better managers is all I can think of!!!
His record before and after cardiff shows cardiff is a massive outlier as far as his performance goes. The one place he had a spine of players who were very good championship players and then lots of money to spend.

He did great to get us up but I don’t think he was good enough to keep us there.

I mean that’s not even close to being true.
Malky plus Ole might have spent £135 million and Malky would have been over half of it.
Ole’s signings were-
J Berget
M Eikrem
K Jones (swap for Odemwingie)
M Daehli
J Cala
B Manga
S Morrison
A le Fondre
T Adeyemi
A Pilkington
G Burgstaller
J Guerra
F Macheda
K Dikgacoi
Couple of those were very decent signings

A few were.
Paid money for Morrison and Manga but got a lot out of both of them.
Some we sold for money too.
A few we lost money on none were anywhere near as bad as Cornelius.

Malky did an unbelievable job for us.
Got us to a cup final (which we were a penalty shootout away from winning against Liverpool) and promoted to the Premier League for the first time ever.
Remember he only had about 10 first team players when he first took over.
Struggled at Wigan (who were in decline anyway) after but did a good job at Ross County, shocked they’ve let him go and hope they go down now.
He’ll rightly have a place in our club’s history.

Those ten first team players included Whittingham, Marshall, Hudson and McNaughton who were quite important that season.
