“ Not long to go untill deadline day “

Wed Jan 24, 2024 9:55 pm

its getting tight for the deadline but im confident we will get a couple in. I just dont know if it will be anyone of any real quality even if we get an attacking mid and a striker id be happy as i know we really need those two positions.

the goalkeeper we are supposed to be signing is quality so that means the arsenal keeper will be gone which lets face it will be best for both clubs it just hasnt worked out .

Last season we signed Sory Kaba Connor Wickham in the jan window which played such a huge part in our season im just hoping we have some players who can make the same impact kaba had so over to the board now please give us fans more hope and a buzz again.

Met sory kaba last year after he left us had a chat with him atblas palmas airport he said he would loved to have stayed and would love to come back nice bloke pity
We wait in anticipation of what comes through the door it just seems we are all going to be underwhelmed just have that feeling.

To this point - we have signed more players under an embargo in the past

This squad needs cover - Even if we go down the loan route with 2 players at least .

Tony,

The embargo suited the board as it meant they got out of paying for players and No one could accuse them of not spending.
As Bulut has said he had targets they’ve gone.
Bulut since November lined up targets.
Now he will have to bring in scraps.

Think the clues were when Dalman saying things like we must stick to the rules and must be profitable I agree with Annie .It has suited the board as a reason not to spend any momey

Exactly. We've heard the talk now wheres the walk? We under embargo we need to cut wages we need to cut squad size.
Done all that and still nothing happening. Exciting window we were told. Well so far its as exciting as the last few matches have been.

i think like Annis, the Embargo suited the Board, now that s gone they are quoting FFP, i think there is room to maneouvre, but FFP is the excuse they are using not to spend, they are utter liars so how can you believe them. The next few days will certainly tell us whether the "we are going to back Bulut" is true or just more lies.

FFP is not an excuse, it's a reason; but I have said previously that at one point, the embargo 'suited the Board'

They still have FFP in mind but there is some room for manouvre; now with one eye on the summer window...

Expect two or three incomings this week and more in the summer... :ayatollah:

Yes let's break FFP and get a ten points deduction next season just to please the fans that's a brilliant thing to do

If we are breaking FFP with that little spent on players. Htf are we going to get forward anytime soon?
We may as well play the kids and start again from scratch if that's the case. Take the drops down the league and be a team that redeveloped over the years

Maybe just maybe at end season club will be in better ffp position as it goes over 3 season cycle....Next season we are going to need 10 players or so to make up the 1st team squad ...whoever we buy this window as to be suitable for medium term not just to satisfy our fans

Don't get this " embargo suited the board " malarkey as OK no money swapped hands ( cough cough ) but there was still wages which were probably higher due to no fee.

Re: “ Not long to go untill deadline day “

Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:06 pm

Kyle the embargo meant we couldn't buy, but now that's lifted we
Hear FFP who knows how close we are to FFP we are hearing it off the board, do you honestly believe what they are saying
I trust them as far as I can throw them.

Jules, due to FFP, the club was being strangled, so not paying transfer fees 'helped' the club in a strange way. Of course salaries msy have beem higher but not in £millions of ttansfer fees... :ayatollah:

Like said ffp could be better next season seeing as we've cut down on players wages past two seasons and its a rolling 3 season thing....

As no one are accountants at city its difficult to argue with ffp statement... every club is scared of ffp now .. the football finance landscape is changing and efl needs to get to grip with premier league money that comes down pyramid think championship clubs get around 5m or less each... except those on parachute payments this is why disparity as occurred past 3 seasons. With relegated clubs

Wouldn't worry with 3 days to go tan is due over on a plane to talk about it all and then we might sign a few of the 5 to 6 the manager wanted set up week's on end before the window even opened. Never to late huh

Can't see the 5 or 6 the manager wanted - Unless it's 1 a day from now on in ;)
Would be nice to see at least 1 who is signed and stays here  ;)

It's getting a bit concerning now isn't it. We've got 5 first team defenders as it stands, what if Goutas or Collins gets injured??? We've gotta rely on players playing out of position to cover. It's mad that we've not signed at least a couple of players to fill these gaps.

I'm trying not to think about Ramsey getting injured again and where the next 13 points are gonna come from to ensure our safety!

How wrong were we to harp on about play-offs!!!

Tough window, we want players who will add value long term, no more Sawyers, Rinimhota type players.

It’sall about balancing the books throughout the entire club. It’s not just based on figures spent / players sold. :old:

But thats where the biggest outlay usually is. And over a 3 year period as I stated elsewhere. IF AFTER THIS TIME WE STILL CANT SPEND ON A PLAYER. Without FFP then we are fked

Not many clubs have made signings in this window including us and the Jacks as the Premier League clubs will not release any players until they have replacements and they’ve also been quiet but I’m sure we’ll get a couple in last minute. Better waiting until the summer as we’re not going up or down this season and we still need to get rid of our deadwood!
