Team for Saturday?

Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:41 pm

What would you go with on Saturday?

El Ghazi won’t be ready yet obviously. I think Robertson and Kanga will be on the bench, Robertson is fit and ready to go but only had his first training session with us today.

I would go with:

Horvath
Ng Chambers Goutas O’Dowda
Siopis Ralls
Tanner Ramsey Willock
Robinson

I'd go with that too

Gotta feeling Willock is gonna be the main man this year. Well impressed with his cameos in pre-season

Definitely that team Ned spot on

I don’t understand why McGuinness is out of favour with so many posters.

I think Meite will be in in place of Tanner, but other than that I agree.

Not good with the ball at his feet, plus he had a recent knock.

If he is possibly leaving, we don’t want to risk another injury to him.

Yes I was thinking that may be the possible change. Meite does around 60 mins and is susceptible to the odd injury. Tanner is often better from the bench.

McGuinness our best CB IMO

My team is:

Horvath
NG Goutas McGuiness ODowda
Siopsis Turnbull
Meite Rambo Willock
Robbo

Where does Rubin fit into this 11 now? I worry for him...

Bench. Impact only atm.

He hasn’t been good enough to warrant a starting place, especially now we’ve strengthened the team.

He will get chances from the bench but there is no legitimate case for him to start.

I have always said that if he hadn’t come from the academy, people would be saying we should get rid of him.

He will get his chances.

I read that Bulut wanted a bigger squad to be able to rotate when needed for rest or injury or suspensions.

He just needs to take his chances.

For me McGuiness starts if he's fit and the only reason he doesn't is because Goutas is a Bulut signing.

That's a Myth that McGuiness is weak with his feet.

More goals came from both DG & NP from losing the ball and there were less goals conceded before MM injury where he was a consistent starter!!

I also see CO as a better winger/WB than a LB so will be interesting.

I’ll be honest mate and say I don’t see that. He’s comfortable on the ball for a CB and has sprayed some lovely accurate long passes out to both wings many times in games. He did an awesome job being the main defender for the second half of the season when flint and Mozzer were injured. And he must have just turned 20-21 at the time.
But I get it if we’re selling him he wouldn’t start. But if he stays I’d have him down as a future captain. But for the benefit of the club, if £10m were to be offered I’d say take it and use to continue building the team.

Totally agree, he’ll be replacing Ramsey on 60 minutes then play when he rest Rambo

Could be Robertson or Turnbull too. Strength in depth now :bluescarf:

Ok I'm going to be unpopular... but old Robbo is not the answer, nowhere near it... He scored a few goals against the likes of Bridgend...

In competitive football he's scored 6 goals in 45 matches or 1 in 7 or 8.

When he played for WBA he scored 1 in 6.

He is way too slow, good player but too slow!

We are a good striker away from challenging, we don't have one yet... Kanga maybe but time will tell.

I agree Big mark is the best defender we have Chambers doesn't like the physical side of the game and doesn't like getting roughed up but with his experience alongside a dominant centre half he should be able to talk his way through a game but I have my doubts guys bit like Jack Simpson for me

Your opinion is t unpopular with me mate. He’s not the long term answer I agree but the best option that we have to start on Saturday imo.

Yeah think I’d go with similar:

Horvath
Ng Chambers Goutas O’Dowda
Siopis
Turnbull Ramsey
Tanner Robinson Willock

Although I wouldn’t be surprised Bulut favours Meite at 9 for the opening game, but really hope Robinson gets the nod with his form in front of goal.

Leaning Turnbull in midfield as we are home and want to see us attack more.

Totally agree on your views on McGuiness, he's our best CB. We really missed him after his injury last season.

Horvath
Ng
O Dowda
Goutas
McGuinness
Ralls
Ramsey
Colwill
Willock
Robinson
Ashford

Robinson not a fan of, Turnbull, Tanner and Meite the same. Siopis passing questionable latter half of last season hence my team.

Hoping to find a bar here in Turkey tomorrow morning with the game on!

Can’t see Colwill or Ashford starting, both been poor in pre season. Might be wrong though.

Hope you find somewhere to watch the game :thumbright:
