First competitive starts for @MReindorf9, @MalachiWalcott5 & Adeteye Gbadehan.
This is a seriously an inexperienced side, but what an opportunity for the lads, maybe a bit more experience needed with them all.
Adeteye Gbadehan, Michael Reindorf and Malachi Fagan-Walcott start their first competitive games, while the likes of Isaac Jefferies, Morgan Wigley, Cody Twose, Dakarai Mafico and Tanatswa Nyakuhwa are all named on the bench.
Rubin Colwill will have a lot of attacking responsibility placed on his shoulders this evening, of that there is no doubt. That perhaps suggests he is unlikely to start the game against Middlesbrough on Saturday, too.

That’s a very weak team, can’t see us going through.
Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:50 pm
We'll batter them. When the Saints go limping home!
Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:51 pm
So pleased to see reindorf from the start thought gazi would have got some minutes from the bench .
Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:53 pm
Glad to see Reindorf in the team, a very weak team tho, expect a battering.

Shocked Kanga isn't in the team.
He needs as much exposure as possible
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:00 pm
Wow, that’s a very young and inexperienced team
Bulut is taking the piss. I expected a few youngsters but this is ridiculous
The fans actually at the game tonight won’t be pleased
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:02 pm
Saving everone for saturday much more important than tonight
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:03 pm
Would Bulut play Reindorf on Saturday if he plays well tonight ?
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:05 pm
Bulut can't win its either not enough youngsters or too many. It's a nothing cup that is probably more of a hindrance to us than anything.
If any of Robinson Ramsey ng willock etc started and got injured that be wrong. Let the youngsters run wild people say they need games so here's 1

Bulut to blame when he doesnt start youngsters now he is to blame for too many. Honestly our fans amaze me with so much constant moans and negativity
Great to see so many youngsters given a chance tonight. Southampton have a 2nd team out so it should be fun to watch. Can't win anything with kids I heard
Come on city
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:14 pm
3 or 4 youngsters would have been enough and good experience for them. Nobody would argue or disagree with that
Bulut has a duty to try and win the game at least!!

To be fair fans are asking for 1 or 2 players to play in league games.
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:17 pm
But he also has a policy from above where he is told league points / position etc is priority.
It's easy to sit here and say o would pick him him him etc and then come Saturday 3 got knocks and can't play whats more judgement
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:18 pm
If I knew Bulut wasn't taking the game seriously, then I wouldn't have bought a ticket.
The players will have to play Tues/Sat some time. It's not like we're Premier League team that an give an excellent second string a run out.
Fulham, good on them, played almost a full strength side past night.
So disappointed. If the manager doesn't care, why should the support

Exactly and to be able to play in league give them some experience now. I agree 1 or 2 in league I would like to see.

If Reindorf plays a blinder, I still don't believe he'd play him Saturday.
If we do win tonight it creates momentum at the club - Erol surely realises that.
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:27 pm
I think been bottom of the league that takes priority to get us off the bottom rather than the cup and a most have played some part in the first team be it small
but i say like klopp did play the kids and see who stands out.

With you, he’s now gone from Dads army to a very inexperienced side instead of mixing them up

A couple of things.
Fulham made 11 changes last night. Not sure how that’s near full strength.
It’s not a Tues-Sat game it’s Wednesday night, Saturday lunchtime. Much, much different.
If we played a good team tonight and then they looked tired against Boro, so many people would be saying “should have played the kids in the cup.”

Some of our fans are never happy. The glass isn’t half empty, there’s no fecking glass
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:38 pm
What is ghe right amount? 3 is not enough 6 to many guess 4.5 youngsters about right! Bench is bit stronger so never know can have same as Sunday late charge for a win?

The problem I’ve got with this is that he’s gone from playing no youngsters to a whole team of them
Surely the kids would learn more playing alongside older experienced players
This is like a under 21 team
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:43 pm
Alot of that team played in pre season, new young guys come in to replace the ones we loaned out, don't think it will be too bad. Have no clue regarding Southamptons team though
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:49 pm
OMFG one minute it's "he won't play the youngsters" & the next it's "there's too many youngsters". You couldn't make it up, not that you would need to here.
Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:54 pm
Southampton 11 changes also. Seems most teams are doing at least 8 changes. Which is not unusual these days
Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:06 pm
Not taking the P now! Really worth playing the youngsters..
