“ Transfer Deadline Day thread “

Thu Aug 29, 2024 6:00 pm

The transfer window slams shut in just over 24 hours, at 11pm on Friday.

Cardiff City still hope to bring in a striker before the deadline.

Plenty of rumours flying about as usual but we will know our squad for sure until January by 11pm.

Plenty of business expected across the Premier League and EFL as usual, post them on here.

I honestly can't see us getting a striker in good enough to go straight into the first team. To get that type of striker you have to spend and we were never in a position to do so sadly. Been here before - many times over the last 3-4 seasons!!

I fear for many on here, it's more hope than expectation.
overall I'm happy with signings made, but I wanted a centre forward that was going to lead us forwards.
I also wanted him in early.
very rarely do deadline day signings work out for us. :bluescarf:

I'm guessing from this that everyone has written off our new striker after 3 games?

If I was a striker looking for a move anywhere I would take a look at clubs message boards & think "there's no way I want to go anywhere near Cardiff City" in case I don't score a hat trick in my first game & get labelled a donkey.

Not expecting much else in. Let’s hope we actually play a progressive game that gives Kanga chances and let’s see what happens.

Where is our striker ??

Hope bulut has got someone lined up cutting it a bit fine typical ccfc

Big day for the club today…been a decent window so far

However, if we are serious about top 6 we need to solve our striker problem once and for all

No ifs or buts..don’t want to hear “we tried hard but couldn’t get it over the line”

Need a “statement “ signing today we need to loosen the purse strings..over to you Mr Tan

It's not the not scoring a hatrick that gets him labelled a donkey. It's actually playing like a donkey that does that

Not sure why people think this situation is unique to city? Lots clubs trying to get this elusive striker in but its a dog eat dog world and clubs with the most usually prevail when comes to last minute sighnings....let's hope we do get a decent forward in but if not we simply go with Robertson ect as we've got the players capable of scoring its a case of making most of them and give them the ammunition to get the goals.

My feelings exactly Allan. I do know that we have been going flat out for a striker, but would you pay £2m loan fee and all of a players wages, I know I wouldn't. Premier league clubs are greedy, and if we did pay that, any team prepared to let a player go,for a season long loan it is obvious to me that, they do not rate that player, so would he be any good?
Between a rock and a hard place.
On what I have seen of Robinson so far, he could be that striker, as long as we give him real service

Fulham have rejected a bid in the region of £10m for striker Jay Stansfield from Birmingham City

Last chance, better to take a punt now than in January when it's much harder again, let's just hope there is a premiership loan to be done.

Roger we've said this before after KM saga they're getting greedy even down to sell on clauses 25%+ normally around 10% ..... 3m is far yo much to get loan player in considering can buy player for that.... got to consider rambo..Robertson..O'Dowda... Colwill... plus others all have goals in them if bulut utilises them correctly...as you've said a regular 15 goal championship striker is a myth but decent striker is more realistic proposition... not dure we will get one but that's football..

Going into this like I did the derby. Expecting nothing but hoping I’m pleasantly surprised.

I cant realistically see us getting a striker in? It would be nice to add to the front line though! However, I also cant see us having a to much of a problem with Robinson, Kanga and Reindorf as our from men, if they get the service and we play the right way. Thats the problem, if a striker no matter who it is does not get the service he wont score goals.

As much as i would not like to sell him tell them £25m :laughing6: then we could get a decent striker in :o

Al-Hamadi from Ipswich on loan is probably our most realistic option

Would be happy with him but will no doubt have to fight off several other clubs for his signature!!

Ipswich been trying to get a striker in but nothing happened yet so can’t see them letting him go unless they do.

Ipswich have gone back in for Broja on loan from Chelsea.

But he’s out injured until mid-October so unclear whether it means they’d let Al-Hamadi leave.

Middlesbrough are working to resolve an issue with Emmanuel Latte Lath, with the striker not travelling with the first team to Cardiff amid interest from Ipswich Town.
Ipswich are understood to have tabled a £20m bid for the Boro striker on Thursday, which was knocked back.
They are back in talks with Chelsea regarding broga i think his name is and also lyle Foster from Burley.
Could be interesting for us re Halmadi.
