Slaven Bilic

Sun Oct 06, 2024 9:21 pm

Seen this name come up a few times over the last few days.

No idea if there's anything in it.

But would you be pleased if he did come in?

Most recently was in charge of a Saudi club.

Has experience of the Championship with West Brom and Watford.

He got West Brom promoted but didn't last long at Watford, then again not many do.

He would be costly

I'd be haply with Bilic.

Doesn't strike me as a Tan type of manager though

Nigel Pearson and Alex Neil also mentioned, Ned…

We can never be too sure at our club; but it seems that they are moving away from Schumacher…

Now the favourite, although that might not mean much.

Not the worst option I've heard. He averages about 1.5 points per match in the championship (I've excluded the Saudi leagues as that's not worth comparing to in my opinion) which is higher than alot of the other candidates on the short list.

Good points.

I would be happy with Bilic. Has experience of the league which is what we want and is a strong character so would be able handle the boardroom. Some might say that's a reason they wouldn't give him the job though.

Any of Bilic, Schumacher or Lowe I would be happy with.

Former Croatia boss Slaven Bilic is currently the bookies' favourite to take over at Cardiff City.

The 56-year-old has been out of work since leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Fateh by mutual consent in the summer, and has also had previous spells in English football, having previously managed West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion.

His most recent spell on these shores was at Watford, where he was sacked in March 2023 with the club sitting in ninth position in the Championship table.

He is now out of work and looking for his next project, and the bookies believe the vacant job at Cardiff could well be a tempting next move.

The Croatian is now priced as 5/2 favourite with SkyBet, having been 16/1 just 48 hours ago. Bookmakers also believe current interim boss Omer Riza (3/1) to be in the running, along with Steven Schumacher, who's out of work since leaving Stoke City. The Bluebirds hierarchy are believed to be holding talks with potential candidates, with a decision likely during this international break.

great shout if we can get him experienced and will take no shite, and age on his side

Rumours on this one seem to be getting stronger.

I would be pleased if he came in.

Got promoted with WBA and had Watford four points off the play-offs when they got rid of him - and we know Watford are even more trigger happy than Tan.

Also did a good job with Croatia, which laid the foundations for what they would achieve in the future. Was able to leave that job on his own terms and was a popular manager for them, even when he left.

I would be happy with Bilic but not getting my hopes up just yet.

I remember when Bulut got the job that we all thought it would be someone else the night before.

He's done okay in the past with West Brom and West Ham, done well with Croatia, he's a little crazy and passionate which will go down well with City fans. Wouldn't be my number one choice but in the past I have thought he would be a good fit at CCFC.

Someone did mention Bilic a week or so ago, wasn't one of the more active posters though, so I forget who.

Fingers crossed it is true and we can get it over the line.

He would show a bit of intent from the board.

He would be a great fit for us,

Vastly experienced, managed at the top level.

He's a big personality aswell, he would bring the club together.

He'd be our best appointment since Warnock.

Giggs isn't on the shortlist.

The same person who started that rumour (Abbandanato) also ended it

I agree I wouldn’t want Pearson, it’s a while since he had any success and would feel like a step back into dinosaur football

Would love this, the type of manager we need right now. Let’s get a bit of fight in us.

Re: Slaven Bilic

There has to be something in it for his odds to be slashed so suddenly.

He ticks all the boxes,

Managed in Turkey, tick for Dalman.

Managed in China, tick for Tan.

He put together that really good Croatia team together, made Modric captain when he was in their u21s.

Has one of the best win ratios for West Ham in the Prem.

Took West Brom up.

Everytime I've seen him as a pundit he's always spoke well about the game.

This would be a good appointment, he would take the club by the scruff of the neck and kick us on.
