First of all, this is NOT my opinion. I would hate to see us relegated and I am very much against this view.
I'll point out that Bolton and more clubs have been stuck there.
But some people say we would be better off in the long term if we went down.
There are the examples of Sunderland, Ipswich and others who have gone down to League One and then become stronger.
Some say that Tan may be more inclined to sell (I don't see that because the value will go down dramatically).
But that is some people's opinion.
Do you agree with them?

NOT-A-CHANCE IT WOULD/COULD BE ‘BETTER’ FOR US AS A CLUB…!Nothing else to say on the matter beyond what you have, Ned…!

I agree Chris.
I've seen some put this view out and I can't really believe it - seems crazy.
But posted the topic to see how many really believe it.

We all know nothing in football is garaunteed? We would be in div 1 for 4 or 5 seasons on crowds of 14k if lucky not a way to progress or have tan sell up... one of the more bizzare ideas fans want to happen

over the last decade we have seen some big clubs go down, get their act sorted and bounce back up. So from that some conclude that is what we need to do.
What people don't see is we are not that big club with recent history in the top league. Of late we have seen Nottingham Forest and Ipswich back in the top leagie and just look at the history. We are nowhere near that. If we go down we could drop further or best stay in league one for a few seasons.

Absolutely not.

I said it was a crazy idea when whoever it was on here said it & still think it's one of the more bizarre thoughts of the crazy fans who think it.

Only if someone also invents a Time Machine and takes me back to 1998 and Ninian Park

I think we went down from the old Second Division circa 1974, it took 20 years and maybe more before Sam Hamman to get back to where we are now.
Be very careful what you wish for.

Not a good idea fans will drift away we may win more games and new stadiums etc but i thought the idea was to be the best and to bring the best football to the stadium and to the city and great atmosphere's in the stadium
not one man and his dog stadiums

Relegation would be an absolute disaster. We need a new manager NOW. Lose the next 2 games and we are in absolute massive trouble.

Definitely NOT !!

We yoyod between the 2nd and 3rd division for a decade (74/84) before having a double relegation to the Dungeon league in 86 I believe. I think we returned to the old League 3 a couple of time but come the turn of the Century we were in the dungean of the dungean. Then along came Sam.

we wont have a choice
other teams above us like luton and coventry will eventually shoot up the table
and Cardiff will simply be left behind.

If your desire is to go into administration, then yeah let's go down.
We are in major debt. Cutting our cashflow (by something like relegation) is something we do NOT want.

I cannot see a benefit for anyone connected to the club. We just have to appoint the best manager we can, we have a decent squad of players who are crying out for someone who will put in a plan and playing style in place that everyone agrees and commits to.
We are in a false position in the league presently and this can be changed when the board has the courage to appoint the right manager, the best we can afford.

We're not in a false position. I'd get that out of our heads straight away, also. We've earned the right to be rock bottom.

We are there because of the tactics of a manager who was clearly not up to the task or the league. Yes we need better players in certain positions BUT in my opinion with the right manager who can quickly gain the confidence of the squad this can be turned around quickly. If I didn't believe that a good experienced manager could accomplish then what's the point of changing the manager!!

Not bothered about a relegation in fact excited to be a bigger fish in the pond and new places to visit.

That's fair

Apart from Buluts tactics and man management we are where we are because the players are not good enough. We have lacked a decent striker since Moore and wingers since Wilson on loan ,Burke ,Conway etc which is a few seasons ago .An experienced manager like Mowbray is what we need right now with Riza as coach for continuity to have any chance of survival. The mistake was made in the summer giving Bulut a new contract in hindsight ,then was the chance to bring in a younger more progressive manager like Schumacher to have the time to change our style and bring in better players to complement that .This delay in making a decision is crazy games are coming up thick and fast and we need to keep in touch till we can try and bring in some attackers in January

Ridiculous could see the club in the wilderness for the next 10-20 years no guarantee we would make it back anytime soon. Crowds we would be lucky to get over 10 thousand for home games.

Rattling around in a stadium that’s already too big for us. Would be horrific

I definitely don’t want us to go down. We might end up staying down for a while, as you know the board are not going to invest to get us back up.

Interesting debate.
Glad the majority agree with me, it is not a positive and there are zero positives from it.

Are you serious? Relegation would be an absolute disaster on all fronts & there is nothing positive about it.
Wed Oct 16, 2024 6:18 pm
We are not getting relegated
Wed Oct 16, 2024 6:46 pm
Relegation is a terrible idea lol
