Till the next International Break on 9th November 2024 :
I think to many City fans are getting carried away by one result against a very poor Plymouth side who not won away. Yes it was brilliant and Our Players like Rubin, Callum Robinson, Alex Robertson , El Ghazi, Tanner etc were finally allowed to shine and attack unlike Bulut’s defensive tactics.
But We need to see much much more from an inexperienced Riza before we decide to keep him on.
If we do well till the Next International Break, keep him on till January, then decide again.
Interim Manager Omer Riza:
28/09/24 Hull City 4 Cardiff City 1 Crowd 22,665 Away Support 460 Cardiff fans

06/10/24 Bristol City 1 Cardiff City 1 Crowd Away Support 2,420
19/10/24 Cardiff City 5 Plymouth Argyle 0 Crowd 20,634 Away Support 3,500
22/10/2024 Cardiff City v Portsmouth Crowd Away Support

That’s a sensible approach. I think we may be getting blinded by the 5-0. I’ve certainly not forgotten the Hull 4-1 but give him enough time to really impact change and see how he goes. At the moment he’s doing a great job.
Even if the game had ended 0-0 Saturday the improvement in style of play is evident for all to see.

Board dragging there feet we know Riga isn’t the answer he was bulets coach and striker coach at that and he done nothing yes he’s beaten Plymouth 5-nil don’t be fouled we need an experienced manager at this level so board go out and get asap

I agree with to the next international break.
I am enjoying the football Riza is trying to play, that kind of football from saturday is what the fans have craved for a long time, take that momentum into tuesday and another 3 points are their for the taking.
If anything- Riza has brought some good attacking football, Its refreshing to see the players pressing too.

Opinions will differ on this but I cannot agree with this post. It was clear from the moment Erol Bulut was ‘sacked’ that the hierarchy had a very popular coach in Omer Riza and they wanted to give him the opportunity. It was widely reported on…
So far, he has developed a more pleasing style of play and has begun to reap the rewards, as players we know to have ‘flair’ are finally finding their feet and producing results…
It’s still early days and we have been here before; but the evidence suggests he has the squad on his side and that, for me at least, is an important factor…

I believe we will get a better idea after the weather brom game.
Will be interesting to see how he approach's it and sets us up.
Hull game apart, and strange subs at Bristol he's not done too much wrong. And there is a definite improvement. As long as he learns from it himself then it's not a bad thing. Remember he's learning aswell.
Everyone wants an experienced head but who's to say it will work.
Look at mad Mick

When people keep saying experienced managers do they mean managers who will be expensive and failed at other clubs and were sacked numerous times. Let’s give this manager a chance. Give him till the end of the season. If it goes pear shaped in 3 months - it won’t cost Tan much in compensation. The new manager has started very well and totally changed the way we play.
The people who want an experienced manager most likely were the ones demanding we give Bulut a 2 year contract.

The change in playing style has given us supporters some joy, joy that we have been denied under Bulut. The results are starting to go our way although I will reserve judgement on that when we have played some of the difficult teams. Lets give him some credit for now and stop talking about a new manager. This guy deserves to be with us for a bit longer at least. If he carries on like this then hopefully he will get the job to the delight of us all.

This is exactly what I think
All these managers always end up sacked ,
Let’s change and give Riza his chance , the next 2 games will be very interesting, if we get results the whole energy of the fans will change and things will be feeling a lot more positive around the ground

Look what happened when We employed Paul Trollope / Neil Harris / Steve Morrison / Lamouchi ( No Championship experience) , Ole ( Great player / But No Championship experience) , Russell Slade steady the ship but that’s as far as he could take us. Mark Hudson, Erol Bukut, NO Championship Experience, well out of his depth.
Under these type of Managers , Cardiff have had the WORST run of results for over 100 years, defeats, goals scored / conceded and beyond awful football.
NEIL WARNOCK & MALKY MACKAY OUR BEST YEARS FOR 50 PLUS SEASONS / PROMOTIONS / TROPHIES / WEMBLEY
And even though I don’t like Dave Jones, The best football and Wembley.
DO NOT RUSH IN TO EMPLOYING RIZA AS FULL-TIME AFTER JUST BEATING / THRASHING PLYMOUTH & BECAUSE HE IS CHEAP.
He is very very inexperienced.
Let’s give him so many matches at a time.
WE HAVE MADE THESE MISTAKES TIME & TIME AGAIN.
Just look we now only get 15,000 home fans and struggling with away support.

It's very complex now that we've battered someone 5-0; with a team that looked like it could have been 7 or 8.
What do we think earns him the job? We play...
Pompy (H)
WBA (A)
Norwich (H)
Luton (A)
Blackburn (H)
For me, anything >3 wins then we need to start considering. At the same time, if we win the next 3 on the bounce and one of the shortlisted candidates on the polls we've had become available, then (for me) we need to pull the trigger and keep Riza as a clearly good attacking coach.

100% will reserve judgement and see how the results pan out over the next few.
As for Championship experience, the longer Riza remains as interim, the more experience he is gaining as a manager in this league.
If he can prove he’s capable, then certainly can extend him to the end of the season and evaluate from there.
However, more slip-ups like Bristol then we need to get in a manager with pedigree (not so much Championship experience).

I am always wary of giving caretaker managers the job permanently as I think they get good results at the beginning just because they are correcting mistakes from the previous manager. They were in the building and so saw what worked and what didn’t. However they often get found out when in the job long term. However right now Riza has got them going and nothing wrong with leaving him in charge for a few more games, also I read that Mowbray wanted another month or so off to recover from his health stuff and bilic isn’t available until closer to January so might be a good balance in the meantime.

I agree that he needs until the next break before we judge but I don’t agree with then waiting again to January.
We need stability, particularly going into the transfer window and we’ll struggle to attract players if the manager position isn’t sorted by then.
So give him until the next break and then make a decision either way until at least the end of the season.
He’s started very well and playing good football (been a long time since we’ve done that) so he deserves a chance to prove himself.

I read some where that Parkinson at Wrexham is on a rolling contract, so maybe thats the way to go for the time being?
Mon Oct 21, 2024 3:34 pm
I am not getting carried away, I absolutely loved Saturday. Plymouth were below par, but so were so many opponents during Buluts reign, he never went for the jugular, Riza did! He was naieve at Bristol though. I still want a more experienced manager with a bit of pedigree, however because such a potential incoming manager faces a transfer window with a 'probable' low budget and the likelihood of loans and freebies, and such mangers may be put off by that as we are still down the basement end. I would not be surprised if Riza gets the season, for lack of applicants, hes totally an improvement on the poor manager that was Erol Bulut. Thats the main!!!
Mon Oct 21, 2024 3:46 pm
My gut feeling is if we beat Pompey and we don’t get beaten at WBA Riza will become our next permanent manager, let’s wait and see but it seems clear to me that he would have the backing of our players and that could well be the deciding factor.
Mon Oct 21, 2024 5:01 pm
If nothing else Riza has imbued confidence into a team that was sadly lacking it, and done so in a relatively short time after Bulut's sacking. Going forward, if results are generally positive and we start to pull away from the relegation zone, I see nothing to be gained by installing an 'experienced' manager between now and the end of the season. If on the other hand, the recent upturn in results and playing style takes a downward turn, then yes we will need to draft in someone with a good record of managing in this league.
Mon Oct 21, 2024 5:05 pm
I agree.
When I posted my topic about if we beat pompey the same way, I mentioned how the players have obviously taken well to Riza, and he’s clearly well liked
If he does get replaced, I hope that it doesn’t upset the morale in the changing room, and cause setbacks for the likes of Tanner and Rubin.
Football is about results, and I’m starting to come around to the idea of Riza being in charge permanently, but I’d like to see more of the forward thinking, fast attacking football before we offer him the job.

Simplistically, if we continue to play like we did on Saturday, we will easily pick up enough points to move up the table and the need to bring in a new manager will probably be put on the back burner.
