" Riza says he could struggle to make new signings "

Sat Dec 28, 2024 3:46 pm

Cardiff City boss Omer Riza has warned the club's lowly position in the Championship table could affect their ability to attract players in January.

The Bluebirds appear in desperate need of fresh blood amid a ten- game run without a single victory that has seen them fall to 23rd in the league standings ahead of Sunday's trip to Watford.

Riza revealed a recruitment meeting with the board and club scouts has been held, with loan signings perhaps the most likely avenue in the coming weeks.

Riza is only looking to sign two to three players maximum, but he says even that will be a struggle.

OMER RIZA:

"We've had a meeting and a shortlist is with the board and discussions are taking place. Hopefully we can move ahead with transfers," Riza said. "It's an important window.

"There are a whole range of scenarios that might occur with our position at the minute, some players maybe don't want to come to a club who are in the position we're in at the moment.

"Maybe we might only be able to get loans in, there are a whole range of obstacles in the way, but we are looking at back-up as well, players further down the list who might be able to come in and help us."

Despite the Bluebirds' form collapsing again in recent weeks, Riza remains optimistic he can maintain the support of club bosses who only gave him the job permanently a matter of weeks ago following his relatively successful interim stint.

"A win can change everything. It's proving hard to get it at the moment," he told BBC Radio.

"We are in discussions all the time about what we need in January.

"We are not getting results and when that is happening there are always going to be questions asked."

Living in cookoo land, already making excuses the board should get rid after we lose to Watford tomorrow, just get Warnock in to get us out of this mess, although now, even Warnock would be hard pressed to do that, but at least he would put some fight into this toothless squad

Not Warnock, under any circumstances. Just look at his last two jobs - failed.

Will always struggle now he can't use his dodgy contacts anymore.

I thought Warnock had retired!?

Desperate times these. As for Rizla, I do wonder whether other managers in relegation places would spout negative comments about players not wanting to come to us because hard work would be needed!

Here we go, by the way, our league position could effect any signings comment he has helped to create.

Ned,

Riza has started the excuses already and making excuses because he has NO money to spend.

Agree, reminds me of last January when they said a couple of days before the window opened that there was a problem with the accounts or something that stopped them signing players.

Just yet another excuse from them.

We will only attract shit, isn't that where we had Riza.

If we had a decent manager and money then yes decent players would come that’s the truth

No shit Pedro

We new this from when he went to Malaysia and he has kept quite about it, tan told him use what you have davies and etete are the only players we will see,
no new manager or player

Re: " Riza says he could struggle to make new signings "

Sat Dec 28, 2024 4:32 pm

Started the excuses early this window!!

Big few weeks this for Tan..the current squad with this manager will be relegated

Either he gets a new manager and spends some money or relegation will cost him £millions and millions

The tide has already turned and the crowd has turned on the players and management

I don’t think he has a clue how to get himself out of the mess he has created..he’s backed himself into a corner and without spending big there is no way out

Did anyone seriously expect anything different?

There's a reason Riza is in charge & I doubt very much it's because we were offering a 2-year contract with 10 million to spend in the January transfer window to manage us.

Only at our club,,, you couldn’t make this shit up anywhere else. Talk about insulting one’s intelligence…

Re: " Riza says he could struggle to make new signings "

Sat Dec 28, 2024 5:52 pm

Utterly predictable.

I would be more surprised if he said there was money to spend and we would be bringing in 4 or 5 players.

Don't then!

If we don't seriously strengthen then League one it is then. I don't care i save £400 and Tan loses tens of millions

Bluff called

New PLAYERS HOW ABOUT A NEW MANAGER FIRST TO SIGN NEW PLAYERS

This is the funniest ‘announcement’ yet. Yes of course we’re going to struggle to make signings, we are joint bottom of the league with a manager no one has ever heard of who has achieved exactly zero in football management in his whole career. We also haven’t won a game in ages and are going down under an owner who is a complete idiot who knows nothing about football but thinks he’s a genius. Also no money to spend. Can’t really see players lining up at the door Riza but thanks for confirming as I wasn’t sure. This club is actually making me so angry I don’t think I can handle it. Luckily I promised to take my mum to the cinema tomorrow so will miss the battering we get at Watford
