FA CUP RUN

Sun Feb 02, 2025 7:54 am

Really looking forward to Stoke in the Fourth round, definitely a winnable tie. Realistically unlikely, however win the tie and we are two game cup wins after that from a Wembley appearance ! Would be a nice way to celebrate our 125th Anniversary :bluebird:

Would love a cup run. Was saying other day be a nice distraction and some excitement.
Looking forward to stop, although it's freezing lol

We are starting to get a little strength in depth slowly but surely, so hopefully be able to field a competitive team capable of winning :bluebird: Stoke manager Mark Robbins does love a cup run mind you. Hopefully he will concentrate on the league :bluebird:

Still don’t think this is the year for a cup run. Need to focus on staying in the championship

These cup ties between two teams from the same league can be unpredictable, because both teams will obviously make a lot of changes. Our game at Sheffield United showed that.

It would be nice to get through but I also don't think it would be the worst thing in the world if we were knocked out.

Will Fish seems very Bullish and seems to portray a positive outlook to the competition, besides I detest giving bookies money and thoroughly enjoy relieving them of it ! :bluebird: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Absolutely buzzing mate, cup knockout football is great. looking forward to the draw and though still possible (but unlikely) two wins from a Wembley appearance which would be a great way to celebrate our 125th anniversary :bluebird:

Interesting to see who we get in the draw for the next round tomorrow night ...But the League is the main goal this season.

I see your point, also the opinion of many others. Would it be a total disaster if we got relegated (nobody really knows the future for certain) we could ‘Do an Ipswich’ and benefit from ‘momentum’ we could languish for years ! We could constantly be in relegation battles in the championship moaning and groaning and picking holes in everything and everyone. We could enjoy a promotion season in league one and like I previously stated benefit from momentum’ (sometimes you need to take one step back to take two forwards) Nobody knows. In the meantime i am going to enjoy the journey :bluebird: whilst quietly respecting everyone’s opinions :bluebird:

I said before the Third Round that I wasn't in favour of a cup run.

But we are in a cup run now, first time we've been to Round Five in eleven years.

So we may as well embrace it :bluebird:

I always hear people say we need to focus on the league.

Look at Plymouth yesterday, bottom of the Championship and just beat Liverpool. One of the best nights in their recent history. I bet they carry that momentum now into the league now.

Look forward to the draw tonight. :bluescarf:

Loving your positivity, if you get a chance to view the video of the Plymouth manager addressing his squad in the Locker room for the first time when he was appointed manager I would encourage you to watch it VERY IMPRESSIVE :bluebird:

This is one tough cup tie ! Villa are really ‘having a go’ this year in the FA CUP and see it as realistic chance of silverware, so expect to face a strong choice of team. We will, as a team from 1-11 have to be at our very very best to have any chance of progressing and hope they have an ‘indifferent day at the office’ along with a modicum of good old fashioned’Luck’ obviously EL GHAZI will be well up for this and former players invariably score against their old clubs. Let’s hope for a huge turnout and hopefully a great day in City’s history :bluebird: as the Wolves fans always sing SHIT ON THE VILLA SHIT ON THE VILLA TONIGHT :occasion5:
