There's another story which has gone down in folk law about Ridsdale's negociation 'skills'. Whilst these might not be the precise details, most Leeds fans accept this happened.

When Seth Johnson went into the boardroom to meet Ridsdale to discuss his contract on signing from Derby, his agent intended asking for £20,000 P/W but would settle for £15,000. Ridsdale's opening offer was £25,000. Seth Johnson was shocked at how good the deal was but Ridsdale mistook his reaction as thinking the offer was too 'low' rather than too 'high'
