Paul Quinn

Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:14 pm

A lot of talk about Earnie being left out but what about Quinn?

He seemed to have cemented his place in the side end of last season at right back. Now I know McNaughton is our number one right back and at the end of the season his services were required on the left. So now we have Taylor covering the left side meaning McNaughton goes back onver to the right but how come Quinn is behind Blake and not even making the bench?

I like Quinn, for me he should come straight into the team when either Kev or Taylor are injured.

I think the reason he isnt on the bench is because MM doesnt like fullbacks on the bench, makes sense I guess with 5 sub rule.

Quinn has played CB for Mackay this season, so Malky knows he's versatile enough to be on the bench.

When Darcy "can't pass water" Blake is ahead of you at full back, you know your days are numbered.

Something in the back of my mind makes me think he even made him captain against Leicester in the cup?

Yup, he did.

Why darcy's ahead of Quinn I don't know! I feel much more confident when Quinn is playing rather than darcy!'

Towards the end of last season Quinn was playing very well, and IMO is a better player than Darcey. Wasn't he also Coventry's captain when we signed him?

Re: Paul Quinn

Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:29 pm

we signed him from motherwall didnt we?

Darcey was pants though mate tbf. And I'm allowed an opinion. I also rate Hudson unlike others.

You're more than welcome to put your opinion across ;)

Re: Paul Quinn

Quinn should be at full back with McNaughton out, he played exceptionally well towards the end of last season
and is the battling type that Malky likes. I can't think of any reason why he's not in the team unless its an injury.
Unfortunately for Darcy today he was wasteful and didn't have a good game. A jack of all trades and master of none.

Re: Paul Quinn

Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:52 pm

The loss of 2 sub spaces is hampering many of the players in the squad. Just have to trust Malky with who he picks and to be fair he hasn't done too badly thus far.

Well you obviously have better judgement than MM, who see's his players every day on the training ground, but obviously hasn't a clue by picking Darcy before Quinn... :old:

Who hates darcy? :?
People will comment on everyone's performance and today darcy was the only one not to perform.
When he plays well people go OTT about how amazing he is as well. Truth is he is a decent player in many positions but not a good player in any of them IMO

Re: Paul Quinn

Darcy can also play in midfield in a destroyer mode, I would have him on the bench ahead of Quinn because hes a better player and hes more versatile.

Re: Paul Quinn

Tue Jan 03, 2012 12:47 pm

Its all about the 5 sub rule and the fact Blake covers full back and centre back when McNaughton starts so Quinn wont get the bench and neither would Gerrard or Naylor ..... was chatting to Quinn last Weds night and he seems very happy at the mo and is doing his best in training to push the others ahead of him :ayatollah: :D :ayatollah:

Re: Paul Quinn

Tue Jan 03, 2012 1:06 pm

I think Quinny is a good solid full back but perhaps Darcy shades it with Malky as he likes the full backs to get forward and Quinny is more defensivly minded.

Agree. Thought Quinn was very good at the end of last season and appeared to have settled into the club at last!! :ayatollah:

Would have him over the overrated (by some) Blake any day. At least he doesn't give the ball to the opposition at every opportunity

At one stage yesterday I thought he (Blake) was lined up for a transfer to Reading and was trying to help his new employers out!!

Darcy gets picked ahead of Quinn so that MM doesn't get accused of a Scottish bias IMO ;)

I like both players tbh, "they are cardiff" but can i pose this question to you all?
last game of the season, we are in 2nd spot for autos, we are 1-0 up and only a win will do, a draw/loss would meen the play offs, last 15 mins our backs to the wall, we take a injury in the back 4, who do you put on for security, darcy or quinn?

I know my answer... lets see... :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Quinn for me....

Blake is what used to be called a good 'utility player' to have on the bench, as he allows the manager greater options with regards to where he uses him in an emergency. This, in turn, permits said manager the opportunity to have 'specialists' alongside him

Quinn for sure.

Although darcy would prob make the bench ahead of him in the first place because he is versatile.

Hello,

A sport site in Israel today says that Paul Quinn is on the way to my team, Hapoel Beer Sheva, where we urgently need a right-back.

Can you tell me about him? Why did he only play once this season? And by the way, how is Dekel Keinan for you fans?
