I had an Alsation called Cleo for 13 years.

Went to work in the Night Clubs with me and use to sit in the office waiting for me, went every where in the car, use to sit in the passenger seat and, I never use wear a seat belt, but the police use to pass by waiving at her, never ever got stopped with her in.
Went to many away game with me, even weed on many away ground.
Sat in the Grandstand on loads of Reserve games at Ninian Park with me.
When I use to go abraod my parents said she would just sit by My Bedroom door all day and Night.

I use to ring home and ask them to to put the phone by her ear, so I could say hello.

And Yes I had many a chat with her

When she died in Xmas 2008, other than My parents dying that was one of the worst experiences of my lIfe.

Totally agree, i have had dogs all my life and would be lost without them, by far a mans best friend as they NEVER let you down and worship the ground you walk on.

i've lost 2 dogs and its heart breaking and i swore id never have another dog, just finished landscaping my garden , new decked area new turf and now thanks to this thread im thinking about a puppy Cheers Fellas.My garden will be detroyed.

Annis , looking on the Greyhound Welfare site I saw the fantastic picture of your Mum with her Greyhounds.They looked as if they were like family to her and you are,I`m sure, very proud.

Always had loads of animals only 5 at the moment though .A 14 year old queen of my castle a mongrel but she's a sweetheart. a 16 year old cat who has always hated the dog and pisses in her food dish on a daily basis and now two 8 month old lurcher bitches, cant half eat some nosh but fantastic to have around the home with kids. Oh nearly forget the guard dog, thats my missus she can be a right Rotweiller, nasty bitch

DOGS - definate - lots of tales over the years -0 faithful tothe end

CATS - no they go anywhere so long as they get food - not at all faithful

GOLDFISH - they can't remember past 3 seconds so dont worry

Throw in a few dozen bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, tortoises. great when your bringing kids up. Keeps them quiet.

An animal can give so much love in their own little way. I was in pieces when I had little jess put down last August, she was ten when we got her from Battersea, lived for another six years. I've seen/done some things in my time but seeing her slip away litterally broke my heart, I have no idea what state I'd have been in if I'd had her from a pup. The wife still hasn't got over it.

Over here the locals think I'm slightly crazy as I spend more money in the shops on dog food than I do on my own food as I feed the site dogs, one of which had three pups around two weeks ago, one died within the first couple of days the other two are off to vet next week to be vaccinated. I'll give the little uns a chance in life. Could write a book on dogs/cats over here, they have their own gangs and shit to protect their little patches, aye, never seen that before, the cats and dogs from one patch will "mob up" to fight invaders from another patch. There's a small gang of dogs, well two, that "own" a bit of land between the railway station and the site. They've recently recruited a pup from somewhere, totally different mongrel to themselves and a cat, a kid you not. Now when the gypsies come along the road in the horse and carts, two dogs, a pup and a cat chase them down the road barking like crazy, well not the cat obviously he/she hasn't learnt Bulgarian yet but is a difficult langauge. I've been trying to get a photograph but haven't yet succeeded, I'll stick it on when I do.

i lost my dog after 18 years wilson had to take her to vets as i could not bare to have her put down she
now lays proudly in my kitchen still in the box from the vets broke my heart but she still with us

you may think im crazy screw loose well your correct but she also was a big part of my life last longer than my two wifes !

Got a fawn brindle lurcher pup at the moment...a stunner and 4 rabbits.Had another lurcher,2 English Springers and a Weimeraner.Devastated when they went to Doggie Heaven.
A lot more fun than the wife.I might divorce her and get a few Greyhounds.

I at 1 time had tropical fish, a 4ft iguana and the 2 dogs f*cking iguana was nuts if the dogs went nr her (IZZY) she would whip the f**k outta them lol. She used to climb up the valance and sit on top of the curtain rail, then she would jump onto the tele!! from the tele she would jump onto the floor and waltz around

she also loved the radiator, i would be sat on the setee and suddenly she would jump up beside me then climb up me and sit on my shoulder LOL had some funny looks when i took her out in the car usually to see family i would pull up at lights with a huge lizard perched on my shoulder. Had some looks

She was better house-trained than my dogs!!

Only time I've cried is for my dogs when that horrible day comes with the vet. No tears for relatives.

I got a spare cage out the back big enough for a big nosed Parasite. Michelin star chef required to prepare his 5* meals. Wouldn't know how to entertain him mind maybe a couple of films, Billy Liar is one that springs to mind must be loadsa songs that would be appropriate listening for him too and I have a video of the 2002 FA Cup 3rd round which could get the odd airing now and then

Little Jess was cremated, she's in the house in London where the wife lights a candle nearly every night. The vet took care of all that sort of thing but I did visit the place where it was carried out. Amazing place, its off the A3 going towards Weybridge, the so called multi millionaires row, they have a propper crematorium for all animals, large grounds with animals graves, all sorts even goldfish!! I was there on a sunday over christmas when I was last home, they were dozens of people there some putting flowers on their pets graves, some just standing paying respects all the while its pissing down.

You don't have a screw loose you just loved your dog, like me, like Annis and like a lot of people too by the other responses. Got a tear in my eye now.

Yes.Lost my Retriever after 14 years being my right hand, worse pain i've felt other than losing a parent. A dog will never let you down & can be the most loyal & geniune friend you could ever have.Most fascinating pet i've ever had though was a Kestrel, it did'nt give a flying f**k for me or anything else, if it was hungry i was it's best friend but soon as it's stomach was full it would look at you as if to say" f**k off now".

R.I.P Cleo

I had a long haired german shepard dog for 16yrs, his back legs went but i tried to keep him longer than i should have, eventually he couldn't move so i had to get him put down, it took me at least 2hrs to get home for a 10min drive, i couldn't see the road for the tears. The radio was on and even now when i hear them 2 long twats singing "more than words" or whatever it was, i'm in bits..

I had a delux dog , he was amazing dog, evryone used to look, stop and talk, he was huge! like my brother growing up! and never had any problems when he was around, we went over the parks everyday, swiming in the taff lol , amazing times
