dont know if this counts but the company I work for I have a 4% share of after an employees buyout when the old company owner emigrated to Australia and about 10 of us put the money in and we bought the company between us .

i used to sub contract to the forestry commision but working for myself i spent more days in the pub then work

Run my own property consultancy after a lifetime being employed by plc's

i worked for myself and had 7 people working for me but the credit crunch fucked it all up for me...


I have no regrets tho...and glad it happened (long story)

I was a taxi driver for 5 years.

I did get offered my dads building firm to run but I turned it down. I was 16 at the time(24 now) so with exams coming up and other things to look at. Looking back at it now, kind of wish I did take it up. I've got about 6 years of finance/tax background at the moment but no good without qualifications.

contracts director and shareholder in a painting and decorating company,and our client base is pretty famous also do a lot of property developing if i can get off this messageboard

I was a self employed dj for a while

I use to work in IT with my own limited company. Labour pissed me off with their new tax laws it was not worth doing anymore. I picked up my bags and left the country.

Had my own company for 20 years and supplied Orthopaedic bracing and equipment to the NHS,retired 4 years ago at 50 and now living the life of a playboy on a budget lol.Whilst I was working I had lot's of money and no time to spend it, now I have loads of time and no money to spend, but I get buy and I'm hardly starving to death.
Mind you after 5 wives, it's a wonder I got any mony left, at one time for a period of a few years I was having to pay 22 grand a year maintenance, fecking mental.
But with all the shit my daughter is having to go through, I have learnt the lesson that your health and the health of your loved ones is far more importnaat than any amount of money or wealth, would like to think I have a better take on what life is all about now and appreciate the simple things far more and no longer take things for granted.
