Malky Mackay made an approach recently for out of favour Sunderland striker Frazier Campbell, he had permission to speak to the player but Campbell did not want to step down a division.

Malky and his staff are looking to bring in a striker and a defender before the loan window shuts two weeks today.

I am also aware that there will are two players lined up for for January and if both cannot be signed permanent then they will loans until the end of the season.

Yes he is and the point should be made that he's trying to get better than we've already got and not some of the crap names mentioned on here.

Frazier Campbell would have been an excellent addition to our squad.

I hope that the striker he is looking to bring in is from the same level of quality.

Hopefully malky can get one or two in this week before the boro game

He could have kept Rudy company on the physios bench.

Maybe a short sighted view by Campbell if he can't see that we are going to be in the mix for promotion ourselves, and if he had real confidence in his own ability then surely he'd back himself to help fire us to the premier league.

Im glad Campbell didn't join with an attitude like that. If that's the way he is thinking then his career will never hit the heights he expects. Class players step down when they know it is right to prove themselves and try and bounce back. If he's happy sitting on his backside and collecting a salary then sod him.

Rather get in someone passionate and who has a desire to play every game.

The player we should be going for is one who comes out and asks for a move because he wants to play more football.

hes still only 19 yrs old and dont forget he played for a really shit ipswich side... hasnt been given a chance for sunderland..

Quite simply Carl I put it in the thread the other night plus the odd call about it. Wasent meaning to insult you Carl just think the needing to be the first with the news goes to far sometimes
