Everything is in place ' My feelings '

Tue Nov 27, 2012 6:48 am

In my opinion an away win at Derby tonight really will be massive for us, I take a draw tonight but if the lads show up and grind out a victory I think that the club will head into a run of serious form. Its great that we've been winning our home games, but can you imagine what the table would look like if we had not had such dismal away results? A win tonight would mean that the away form dip is behind us and we will definately crack on and prove oursleves as the promotion favourites.

The Malaysian rebranding has caused a divide in our fans, no doubt, but its not as bad as this board suggests, sure there are people on here who feel strongly, Annis for example, but the majority of fans have accepted (but not embraced) the changes, and i put myself in that bracket. Head down the the CCS and look around, at the stadium, at the players and staff, its the best shape the clubs been in, we have gone past being a club trying to make the transition to a club ready for promotion and in my opinion, a club that has the financial backing to stay there when we arrive. When that happens I do not doubt that Tan will make good on his promises to extend the stadium capacity, and improve the training facilites, why wouldnt he? He is more than likely trying to create a club he can sell on.

Cardiff City in the Premier league will pull crowds that our friends out west could only dream of, we know that and so do they, I personally do not care if we have a new breed of fans, that some might call plastic, we will have over 30000 fans if Wembley numbers are anything to go by, It aint gonna be a Ninian Park atmosphere but people need to accept we arent going to get the Ninian Park atmosphere back, we have an all seater stadium, the family stand is next to the away fans, we are family club of the year  you can get banned for abusive chanting as has happened to a couple of West Ham fans yesterday (albeit they were caught using racist slurs) football has moved on from the NP days, its just that certain fans can not let those days go, why would they, some might say they were great times to be a football fan.

I am fed up of the stick that Vincent Tan is getting on this board, yes he made changes to our club, serious changes, changes that would never have been made by a person with experience in football, but he made those chnages for reasons he believes could improve our clubs finanicial standing long term, and thats something we can all agree on needs addressing. The total debt may be raising, but we want Premier League football dont we? he is pushing the club to take that step further than has been done before. Hamamm spent alot of money to get the club into the Championship and Tan is taking the next step, spending what is needed to get us into the top flight of football.

We have the financial backing, we have the promising young manager who could be at the helm of our club for many years to come, lets look forward and stand together as we Cardiff City are top of the league, come on CIty :ayatollah:

That was a bit of a long winded post for 7am but just wanted to get my feelings off my chest.

Re: Everything is in place

Good post mate and one i entirely agree with.
I loved watching city in the late 80's and early 90's but it had nothing to do with the football on display, but more to do with the fun that came with it.
Like it or not those days are long gone and watching city in front of 3k in the CCS would break my spirit i think!

I loved going to ninian park but it's gone and football has changed for the worse up and down the country in my opinion but at least now i get to watch players who are actually better than me!

I'm behind Tan and though i think it was a mistake changing to red i do believe he deserves to be cut some slack considering he was the only one to bail us out when were on the verge of liquidation

An excellent post Gavin, even though I dont agree with everything in there,as I know hundreds who will not accept the changes, but we are in the minority it seems. You nearly had me believing though  :ayatollah:

No serious Gavin I am loving the football and looking forward to travelling to Derby tonight and cant wait for Sheff Wednesday at home on Sunday. I wasnt enjoying my football in the last season under Jones. I still love my club deep down and always will, how could I not after 40 years. I really hope Tan proves me wrong on the shares/equity.
But I still want our identity back.

So for now lets just enjoy the superb football being played under Malky and get behind him. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Annis, you have my respect, you hate the changes but still support the players and manager week in, week out, nobody can ask more of you than that.

Very good post Gav :D
Agree with most of it, its all about getting behind the team and moving on together.
Its the best feeling I can remember and I am quietly confident we can get promotion, and I am usually a pessimist when it comes to Cardiff City.
About the debt, most of it now is owed to Vincent Tan, so its not really a debt, because he knows there's only one way, he will ever get his money back, and that is promotion. But I believe he not only wants his money back, but he wants to make money, and that means a successful premiership side.

So Ninian Park is gone and the CCS is here, and also for as long as VT is here,( maybe forever) we are going to play in RED.
Either accept it or not, support the team or not, go to the games or not.
But I hope all the ex ST holders come back, all the other fans who were not happy with the colour change come back and new fans come to the CCS, we are in for some exciting times.

Lets hope for a result tonight, and like Gavler said lets go on a run, and rip this Championship wide open. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Great Post, agree with everything said.Spoken like a true city supporter. For me though the fact that you can really accomodate peoples views that are different to your own without resorting to cheap slurs and the like marks you as the kind of guy I would like if we ever met.

gringo sums it up well there. its not the 80's or 90's isit where a game was the sideshow partic away.

Great post Gav, and you spot on about the message board, the split as you describe is almost unnoticeable out on the street, I have rarely met anyone in the pub or whatever who feels that strongly opposed, and as you say whilst most of us accept it, but only with a reluctance that we had little choice.
Feel like you got it pretty spot on. :ayatollah:

"We all want Premier a league football don't we?"

Personally, not at the cost of the clubs identity - but there we go.

Still enjoying the football and supporting the team, but still feel short changed by it all with that change.

I disagree, can't speak for everyone unlike you, but my main concern is to see the club continue at the level an area and a support base of our size deserves.
Getting to the Premier is just part of wanting success and part of being a football fan is wanting to achieve success surely? even clubs like Torquay will have fans who dream of getting to a cup final or making it to the next division every season, without hope and ambition, what is it all about, we may as well just play pre season friendlies all year.

The Premier league is simply the target, once team gets there they then set the bar higher and aim for the champions league etc.

Can't see that changing in football or any competitive sport to be honest, I think that why it's called a competition.
Some people have said they would be happy to play in division two or even the Welsh League as long as they were in blue.
But would playing in blue satisfy their ambitions, or would they still look to gain promotion back to where we are now and heaven forbid even the Premier league?

You say you can't speak for everyone, so accept that some people will feel different to you.

If it was a choice between red and prem or blue and championship/L1 it would be blue every time.

I've survived quite long enough without us being in the top flight & I'd quite happily continue. Yes, we would look to fight our way back up, but us being in blue and being relegated wouldn't mean we would have to stay there forever... We would rebuild and start again.

Gav, one of the best posts thats been up in the sticky for a long while.

Not EVERYONE will agree with you, but I do! Down to a tee mate. :ayatollah:

At the end of the day, whether we agree with the rebrand or not, CCFC was only heading one way without TG and VT, and that was on a downwards spiral. Maybe, and it's a big maybe, without them, we may have in worst case scenario gone out of business, in better terms entered administration.

So I believe ALL fans should be at least thankful to what the malaysians have done for us, and opportunites presented to us.

There were sacrifices made that divided fans.

But looking back now, maybe it was for the best. Maybe one day we will be Blue again at home, and Red away? We don't know.
All we can do as Cardiff fans, is do what we've been doing since we knew the club, stand strong and support the club as a whole going forward.

There is nothing there that can be disageed with.
Whatever your opinions on the rebrand, debts etc I cannot find anything that I (or anyone else surely) can disagree with.
Therefore, good post.

Merlin, it was never red or dead. That was just a threat.

Yes, we would have lost players and would struggle - but we would still be Cardiff City.

I don't feel we are really the true Cardiff City anymore. Just a club with an identity crisis and an even bigger debt than before.

I appreciate that others see it as a positive, however.

Does it really have to be a "grind out performance",look i will take 3 points no matter how we get them, but we must not fall into the trap that says the only way we are going to win away from home, is if we play ugly football,im sure Manchester United,Arsenal and Barcelona dont have that mindset

We are top of the league but having a tough time due to injuries, I'll take a result whether its pretty or dog ugly, the finesse and style will return with the players coming back from injury

I keep hearing this spin, but those that were there will know that when asked what would happen if VT stuck to his proposals that he's sent in his statement, the CEO stated that without finding new investors the club would cease to be able to trade within a few months.

Now if you see that as a positive possibility then good on you, I for one wasn't prepared to risk the coexistence of a club that I loved, colour or no colour.

Do you believe new investors would have stepped in, Admin would have been the best option if available, but the position most likely would have been liquidation and like Rangers a new club reforming, but unlike Rangers we may not have been allowed straight back into the English Pyramid system and if we had at what level do you think.

I'm sure the Welsh FA would have taken us back at a flash. We could not afford the running cost at the new stadium unless we had huge crowds, the TV money would dry up as would sponsorship, we would not afford the training facilities and would have to shelve the academy, now you may consider tha as an option worth taking to play more often in a Blue shirt, but luckilly the huge majority wanted a different outcome and commons sense and people power as won the day. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Agree.the only thing I disagree with is that we cant get the Ninian Park atmosphere back. Your wrong, we can. If Tan swaps the canton with the family stand so that all the canton lads are next to the away fans but it is still the grange end it would be bouncing again. Maybe if he did this he who'd redeem himself for the rebrand. Also, this safe standing thing seems quite good if we could get it. Again, if Tan gets it, it would redeem him with most fans.
