Where did you check the figures?

The Daily Telegraph Online (never shy of shouting about migration and foreigners) quoted the combined Romanian and Bulgarian migrant worker figure as 219,000 last November. There must have been one hell of a spike since then if Farage is 'SPOT ON'.

Bluegog is confusing me in this thread, has he got some kind of mental health problem? He's arguing to stay in the EU but then also arguing for us to leave the EU by leaving the UK? Strange.

Actual migration rules are unlikely to change in case of Brexit. The UK will want to retain access to the EU market, which comes with the condition of accepting free movement of labour, just like Switzerland and Norway had to accept free movement of labour despite never joining the EU.

There does and against. A lot and think you may be one think the. Austrailan points system is a good way. Even though they have more migrants than us. Nothing holds with the leave campaign. One dangerous bunch of dreamers. It be like handing me the keys to number 10 I'd be clueless what to so with all the power. And that's what would happen if leave wins and any of those dreamers become pm. You think it's soon and gloom now. Wait until we really in the pooper.

Norway is outside the EU but part of the Schengen agreement (border-free area) and has higher per-capita immigration than the UK. It is also part of the European Economic Area and has almost full access to the EU internal market (same as Iceland and Lichtenstein). In return for that it has to implement all the EU laws relating to the internal market (about 75% of all EU legislation) including the working time directive. Norway has less control over its borders than the UK. It has all the same EU obligations without the vote or veto to go with it. You are a bit closer the truth with Switzerland but they have signed up to the Free Movement of Persons Agreement that gives Romanians and Bulgarians full access to the Swiss labour market!

So they can't 'have who they like'.

Re: ' POLL ' How would you vote on eu today?

Its unlikely the Aussies have more migrants than us,and their system of immigration is tailored to their economy, which is far more successful than ours per head (40% of the GDP, with one fifth of the population).

Sounds terrible that....

Speaking of dangerous dreamers, you forgot to mention Angela Merkel, who neglected to tell the German people of the plan to ship 1 million+ foreigners into Germany, and is now responsible for thousands of Muslims and sub-saharan Africans trying to break into Europe, quite successfully it would seem.

Great post Jon. To many of the likes of wez think immigration will be sorted overnight. It won't because we have to obey by the eu rules that we no longer have a say on. It laughable they willing to vote out on one agenda that won't change anyway. Other than we be in a weaker position to argue it.

Don't forget the uk has only voted against proposed eu laws 3% of the time.

Australia is a different case though. Besides around a quarter of their population were born elsewhere, and that ratio is only likely to grow.

I don't think immigration will be sorted over night as labour and conservative s have messed up the whole system ,it will need a overhaul of our benefits system too no immigrant should get any benefits that will stop a lot if people wanting to come here ,British tax payer should come first

No Saddles is Cool Hand Luke. He was banned for being a c**t but just uses his other username now.

BlueGog please answer this, why are you extolling the virtues of the EU but then also advocating we leave it by leaving the UK? You know we would forfeit out membership of the EU in the event of independence and that it would be extremely difficult for us to re enter.

Isn't that what the Government are already doing? Immigrants can't just come to the UK and start claiming benefits. Besides, the large majority of them come to work, pay taxes, and spend money again in the UK.

Leaving the UK is a long term aim, Wales isn't ready to take that step yet, our economy is not strong enough, our infrastructure needs developing and obviously our electorate don't want it at the moment. I want to say in the EU because Wales benefits more from Europe than we do from England. Do you really believe Westminster will invest that kind of money in Wales? They don't even match fund the EU money as they're meant to!

You might think this is a contradiction, but I make my decision by what's right for Wales, nothing else. I'm Welsh, England doesn't interest me in the least. As I've stated in other posts leaving the EU might benefit parts of England but that simply isn't true of Wales.
