Apparently there were clauses in some of his sponsorship deals about drugs, their also talking about him repaying all prize monies and fraud, bad for cycling and bad for sport.
Me personally think, what he was involved in, amounts to organised crime, and should be stipped of all his assets, or atleast most of them, just like they do with organised crime bosses when they are prosecuted under that "r.i.c.o" act. As it is now, with him still being able to rake in millions, I can't see how it would be any kind of deterrent for any up and coming sportsman thinking about cheating his way to the top
He's manipulated every thing he's ever touched, he's got to be punished surely, as you say what message does it send to up and coming sports people.

Yet you claim Chopra's just as bad as him.

I read his books, believed the story, found him inspirational. To think it was all down to a concoction of drugs is soul destroying - He will never rebounds from this........

"Any sports person who is a cheat Should be banned from all sports, including Chopra"
This statement implies you see all cases the same, which simply is not the way it should be done.

......i think he would be in jail if that was true. Media talk. The team riders who got caught said he made them take the juice. Well if someone told me to take drugs i would tell them no thanks . everyone taking the moral ground in life but snorting themselves ha hamr'mogreenz wrote:The thing what makes it worse, is the fact he wasn't just using drugs for himself to compete, but he was actually the head of a sophisticated performance enhancing drug program that was making him millions by enticing other bike riders, maybe even athletes from other sports to join his program. if me, you or joe bloggs were caught selling drugs to make a profit, we could expect a few years in jail! If someone at the top of the drug food chain gets caught, they can expect at least a decade behind bars, yet he gets to go on oprah

Like you say mate, lot of it probably just media talk, he needs to come out and put it all straight though, at the moment, a lot of people are thinking he was some kind of drug king-pin in the sporting world, if he was just juicing himself up, then fair enough, but if he was part of a bigger program to make huge profits out of it, then he should be brought to book like any other big time drug dealer would
