A very good game yesterday and some excellent form in recent weeks.

He's lucky the rest of our back three have been superb. Teams target him as our weak link.

The whole of our back four and goalie especially were park standard after the 35ish minute mark against Charlton, yet you single out this game, to try and justify you're slagging off of Taylor's performance yesterday, even when very few people on here agree with you!

He's been doing well for a while now, You must not get to many games.

Oh I do. A while? he's perennially our worst defender.

I've said for a while I think he is the weakest first team player. When we go up he's not going to cut it in the Premier league. I would like to see a left back coming in now.

Spot on!

Re: Andrew Taylor

It isnt just about 1 player, its about the defensive unit as a whole. Why disrupt it, its doing very well this season.

You keep saying he's the weak link.....wheres your evidence???

So on your basis he shouldnt have been atttacking but defending when we scored? As we might have been cought out defenively! why not except it was good cross and he couldnt do any more to prevent header? why not have go at person who failed to stop cross. But you seem to blame him completely for allowing cross and not beating player to ball

He has improved a great deal this season and everyone makes mistakes, fortunately his yesterday did not cost us the game!! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I was referring to the possible hand ball incident that he was fortunate not to concede

Re: Andrew Taylor

I didn't think he played well at all yesterday.

He got very lucky with out second goal as he took far too long on the ball and should have knocked a quick ball through to mason fro a tap in but he let the defence catch up with him.

I don;t know whether it's because my seat at the CCS is near the left back position but I see far more mistakes coming from him than the other defenders defensively wise.

Fair enough, but you didn't specify the handball incident, when a lot of people on this thread, blamed him for the goal we did concede! :ayatollah:

Gone are the days when Full backs camp around their 18 yard box much like what Connolly done against Ipswich.
Taylor is a modern day wing back and supports the attack . Did anyone not notice that all the attacks against Ipswich came down his side . Poor Noone never got a look in on the right.

probably because Noone wasn't playing...

Re: Andrew Taylor

Taylor at fault for the goal? People need to put the drugs down FFS. The player at fault for the goal was the one who allowed a dangerous ball to be put into the box and put Taylor in such a position in the first place and that is a fact.

Sorry, but once a ball of that quality is put in the box the striker is always going to have a run on his marker regardless of who he is.

He was also involved in one of the goals.

This Taylor abuse really starting to grate me big time. No different to Arsenal fans giving Ramsey stick yet we criticise them for that. He is one of us FFS, we have a solid defensive record and he gives his all every game. We are 10 points clear and have beaten the big teams.

Taylor is probably one of the best left backs we've ever had at this club.

If people took a really close look at how many times Ashley Cole is caught out of position leading up to goals scored against Chelsea then they'd realise how good a job Taylor is doing lately. Part of the reason Cole doesn't get blamed for goals coming from his side of the pitch is because he's nowhere to be seen!

To be fair to Ashley Cole though, he's clearly expected to drive forward and help out their attacks, the same as Taylor is expected to bomb on when we're attacking!

It's then up to other players to fill in and cover for them, when they do bomb forward and it's far easier to be able to get a cross in, than it is to stop crosses from being put into danger areas! :ayatollah:

First and foremost a full-backs job is to defend. I don't think its a good excuse for a defender to be able to say 'it wasn't my fault boss, I was busy bombing forward then as I was jogging back they scored!'

One of the most clueless posts i've read on here.

Sorry.

Andrew Taylors job, first and foremost IS as a defender. But his secondary job is to
get forward and support the attack. If our midfielders can get him to the byline and
he can then get a cross in then he is doing pretty damn well!!... Here's a scenario...
Andrew Taylor gets to the byline, fires a killing cross in and Helguson crashes a header
against the bar. It rebounds to the edge of their box, a defender hoofs it to the halfway
line and one striker knocks it wide out to our left to his strike partner who runs on and
scores. Who do you blame? Are you seriously suggesting Malky is going to bollock Taylor
for that?

I can't understand why Malky doesn't see or address this?

Your very much right, every time he got the ball I'm shitting my self , and when he goes into a tackle, he really needs to be more disciplined , his good point is he do make runs now & again that takes the ball away from our goals.

Re: Andrew Taylor

If we go up it will be carnage on here....

10 point clear, a brilliant team defensive record and all our sofa coaches pick out individuals to criticise....

I am sure Malky will get Leighton Baines during the window to appease you lot.

Agreed. Friend and Taylor as our two left backs would be brilliant competition in the team.
