Everyone is entitled to their own views but religion isn't for me. Too much hurt in this world to have faith in a greater being that has control over everything in this world.

I'm not ruling anything out but I'm not ruling anything in. Life has already handed me enough surprises for me to not be that naive.

after reading a few of the comments it has opened my eyes to peoples feelings, I still believe in science but am more open to hear what people have to say, I have massive respect for those of you who have religious beliefs and I wish I could believe but the whole "god works in mysterious ways" thing when young girls die of cancer and good people lose everything doesn't cut it for me :-|

You sum up alot of my feelings. I used to go to Church semi-regularly and have had all my kids Christened. The more sadness I hear about the more cynical i get.

All religion is a bunch of bullshit made up by the few to control and manipulate many. And get tax free cash in the process!

The world will be a better place when/if our intelligence evolves to realise that it's a lie.

Someone speaking in Church last week shared the story of Digory and Aslan from The Magician's Nephew as an example of how God shares in the pain and suffering of the world and how it grieves Him far beyond anything we could experience of comprehend;

Aslan asks Digory if he is ready to undo the harm he has done. Digory blurts out that he needs help for his mother, but realizes, after seeing tears in Aslan's eyes, that the Lion shares his pain. Digory is ready. He is commanded to travel to the west of Narnia and pluck an apple from a tree that grows in a Garden there and return it to Aslan. Realizing the distance, Digory tells Aslan that it will take a while to return, but Aslan provides transportation for him The Lion calls Strawberry, asks him if he would like to be a flying horse, gives the animal wings, and renames himFledge. Both Polly and Digory are loaded onto the horse's back and they set off toward the garden. As they travel they realize that they will not make it to the garden before nightfall so they stop to camp. Having no food for themselves, the children make due with a bag of toffees which Digory had with him. They both eat four of the treats and plant the ninth one in the hopes that more food would be produced from it. The children settle under Fledge's wing to sleep. Their respite is disturbed briefly but the sound of someone walking nearby. A shadow is spotted but nothing comes of the mystery so all settle into sleep again. When they wake the next morning, a fruit tree has grown from the toffee, and the children eat candy-like fruit for breakfast. After a bath and breakfast, the three continue their journey to the garden.

There is a balance, some believe, some don't,

Can you believe that there is a guy sat in a big cloud in the sky with a big white beard next to a pearly gate, for me, no,

But I do believe we are here for a reason, and it's not just Proff Brian Coxs' thoery,

There has to be something else, I just don't know what it is yet.

Keep a faith

why is there so much evil?

We're not here to live in perfect Harmony,

the way we are as people stems right back to ancient times, people had to go through living hell, and then it would be passed down from their ancestors, through their own experiences then they would turn up Twisted as well, and it rubs off,
people with bad upbringings, no moral guidance turn out wrong ones,

people Also do bad things without realising, and then when karmic law, enforces a consequnce, people often think the suffer because their is no god,
unfortunately not even a god could control what is happening on earth....

maybe it wasnt suppose to end up like this , thats the brutal truth

(we were definately created by something or someone far superier than we would ever know, theirs a 100 billion trillion stars in the solar system
it would be insane to thinkwe are the most inteligent life form out there (far from it

and then when karmic law,

Don't know what that is, genuinely interested, please tell!

God is a terrible, totalitarian, idea.

Why would you want somebody to watch, know, and judge everything you did for your entire life?

That concept in itself stinks of scaremongering.

So......Do you just believe you die and that's it!

Physics tell us, nothing dies, it simply changes form,

Yes, I believe, something drives us to exist, we have a soul,

Otherwise, why are you here? you have a soul!

Yes, that's exactly what I believe and that's what science supports. Unfortunately many people are too afraid to face that fact. Especially those who have known people close to them to die. It's little more than a childish security blanket.

Well, biology tells us what happens when an organism dies.

There is no evidence for the 'soul' which is merely a fictitious human creation. Like God.

If god can preform miracles then you'd have to think that Satan has a few tricks up his sleeve as well.
