eric clapton, prince, mark knopfler, all great artists/performers and wrote numerous songs for others.
robbie williams has the potential to become a legend in the mold of freddie mercury.
nigel benn & chris eubank had the charisma/entertainment value and david haye could be just as entertaining but none of them will ever equal the greatest ever, ali.

Ryan Giggs might be in with a shout if he becomes a successful manager to add to his amazing 11 Premier, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and 2 Champions League titles.

i can't believe nobody has mentioned Paul Macartney, remember him and the Beatles, now whilst not everyone may love his music, we must all agree whate he's done Beatles and post beatles give hime the real legend status.
Personally for me it would be Stevie Wonder, but Macca must shade it.
