Clubs do it all the time. Offer a player a new deal with a rise in pay as an incentive for them to stay.
Nothing new in that.

If it is true I will be upset. He's already proven himself to be very average for us, his stock is at its highest after his World Cup so we should just cash in now. If we go up he still won't be able to handle the tempo of the Premier League which will see some more poor performances from him.
People are creaming all over him after two good games in the WC yet forget that he was very poor for us last season. As to making him captain? He can't even speak English, would be a stupid move. He doesn't suit the English game so let him move on.

(Look at our celebrations against Manchester City, he has to celebrate with fans because the other players didn't communicate with him).
Get rid and get a bit of money back. He's not cut out for the English game, especially the Championship

I think he'd make a good Captain and what a player to hang on to.

Medel will be made captain.
A pay rise when we get promoted back to the premier league.
Lower get out clause next summer if we fail .

Well I think it's crazy that a captaincy would be given to a man who can't hold a decent conversation with the players he is supposed to be leading. He has a basic grasp, nothing more. Certainly not enough to be a captain of that team.
