These games scare me....It feels like we are coming off a break and a christmas party so recent history nags at me that we'll manage to mess this up.

can see us losing, i'd be happy with draw

Team news

Star striker Kenneth Zohore is fighting his way back from injury, but this clash may come a little too soon. Gunnarsson and Mendez-Laing have also had knocks of late but should both be fine.

Team selection

Warnock has a number of options at right back. Either he sticks with centre-back Bruno Manga, who's done a great job out of position, or he calls Lee Peltier back into the side.

"Alternatively, the versatile Callum Paterson can play there if the boss wants a more attacking option. Up front, it will be a simple choice between Omar Bogle and Danny Ward."

Neil Warnock's Cardiff City are the latest visitors to Madejski Stadium when the sides face each other on Monday night.

The Royals go into the match off the back of two consecutive Championship victories, and 14 points from the last 21 available, and have climbed back towards the mix in the league.

Cardiff, meanwhile, have been pushing towards the automatic promotion places in the Championship, following an outstanding first half of the season under Warnock.

Reading have been settled in their squad set-up in recent matches, though, with the same 11 taking to the field from the start in their previous three matches, with seven points as a result.

There are plenty of options waiting in the wings for an opportunity, though, with several first team players keeping match fit by taking part in the Under-23s' match against Bayern Munich on Friday night.

It's sure to be another tight contest under the lights at Madejski Stadium, so back the boys against the Bluebirds as we go for another good result and performance!

Latest Team News Reading v Cardiff City

Reading FC

Monday 11th December 2017

It's going to be a chilly Monday night game under the floodlights at the Madejski tonight, we take a look at team news as we welcome high-flying Cardiff City who are sure to bring a large following up the M4 from South Wales.

Jaap Stam is highly likely to name an unchanged team, as we are enjoying a good spell with a consistent team. The only alternation on the subs bench could be in the inclusion of John Swift, after missing the previous four matches with injury, but Sam Smith is still out injured.

Winger Garath McCleary could also be back in contention soon after returning to training, but is unlikely to be in the squad for a few weeks yet. Jordan Obita remains the only long-term absentee, while Callum Harriott and Joseph Mendes remain sidelined for a while.

Our mate Colin has a few injury concerns to contend with, mainly up top. Hot prospect Rhys Healey is missing, while impressive forward Kenneth Zohore is edging closer to fitness but won't start. Former Royals target Omar Bogle is likely to start after scoring off the bench last week.

Back-up goalkeeper Lee Camp is still sidelined for the Bluebirds, while pacey winger Kadeem Harris is also missing for the away side. Icelandic international Aron Gunnarsson is back in training after an injury lay-off, but is only likely to make the subs bench tonight.

Cardiff City go in search of their fifth consecutive league win as they take on in-form Reading at the Madejski Stadium tonight.

Last season was Reading’s first league double over Cardiff since the 2005/06 season, last winning three games in a row against the Bluebirds in November 2004.

Neil Warnock has lost more Football League games (excluding play-offs) against Reading than any other side (16).

Yann Kermorgant has had a hand in four goals in his last five league matches against Cardiff (three goals, one assist), scoring in both matches against them last season.

Cardiff are yet to drop a single point in Championship matches when they’ve gone ahead this season, winning all 13 of the matches in which they’ve taken the lead.

In his last 15 league matches this season, Modou Barrow has had a hand in seven goals (five goals, two assists) – as many as he managed in his previous 66 combined.

The Bluebirds have conceded fewer goals than any other Championship side this season (14) – after 20 matches last season, they had conceded 31 goals.

Bruno Manga hunting Wolves

This is a big opportunity for Cardiff tonight.

Wolves lead the way in the Championship, but were unexpectedly held to a draw at home to basement battlers Sunderland on Saturday.

A win in Berkshire tonight would see the Bluebirds close the gap on the leaders to just two point, and defender Bruno Manga is seemingly determined to get back to the league’s summit.

He told Cardiff’s official website:

“Wolves are a very good team but we’re not far behind them in second
“We’ll try to capitalise on any errors that they make.
“I came to Cardiff City to play in the Premier League so I hope we can get there. To achieve that we have to be focused because anything can happen.
“We play for our fans. When they get behind us, it motivates us to do well on and off the pitch.”

Stat Attack

“Some great stats in the Reading programme, though it won’t make happy reading for Cardiff fans. This is Neil Warnock’s 30th league game against the Royals, his first coming back in March 1989, and so far he’s lost 16 of them - more defeats than he’s suffered against any other side. He’s lost his last two visits to the Madejski, one goal defeats while with Rotherham and the Bluebirds.
But there is some mitigating factors - it’s the 500th game at the Madejski on Saturday (so this is the 499th) and no other manager has had more games in the away dug-out than the 69-year-old. When you’re going that long, you’re bound to have a few losses along the way.
Still, safe to say the veteran would love it to put a dent in that record tonight as he looks to continue his superb achievements with his latest club.”

Positive start from Cardiff as Hoilett goes up the right wing, and his cross is cleared for a throw-in.

It’s cleared before Paterson pumps it back into the box, but Bogle is penalised for a foul.

Second earliest goal Cardiff have conceded this year. QPR after 15 mins the other, a game they came back to win 2-1. Little suggestion so far of the same happening
