Re: END OF THE ROAD FOR WHITTS??

I've had a bit more time to think about this one....

And have changed my opinion on this. Whitts is in the last year of his contract, and still hasnt signed.Cardiff need the cash to ease the monthly outgoings (unless things have changed?) He had a great season last term, thats one in three is it ? or four? but anyway, my point is last year he got a little lucky, not taking anything away from him mind, he's a good championship player.

If another club bids OVER £1.5m then i think we should sell him. We know how he plays, and I bet my bottom dollar teams have been working hard in pre season and will be out to stop a player like whitts playing. I dont think he'd do too much damage against us, (or maybe we put a clause in the sale?) and I certainly dont think he'll be repeating what he did last year.

We have a midfield of:

Olofinjana, Whitts, McPahil, Burke, Wildig, Rae, Drinkwater, Koumas, Taiwo, (McCormack) - thats 2 players short of a full team of midfielders.....!

Whitts can be replaced on the pitch more obviously by Koumas, and Bellamy (if we assume Chopra and Bothroyd stay in attack) but its not hard to switch things around in midfield if whitts isnt here anyway, when you look at a midfield consisting of Koumas, Olofinjana, Drinkwater/McPhail/Rae, Burke thats still pretty mouth watering! and thats WITHOUT Bellamy in there!

Food for thought anyway. :ayatollah:

It's interesting that we haven't heard anything from within the club regarding Whitts new contract offer.

I think he's going, and prior to Bellers signing, I was worried about losing him. But not now. Bellers is so versatile, we can actually afford to let Whitts go and still be stronger. In an ideal world, Whitts would sign the contract extension and provide strength in depth. But he won't be happy with this, and I'm sure he will still be looking for a move away.

If we can get Whitts to extend his contract by a year or two great, we should keep him.Remmember even when he is not scoring he is providing the passes for others.
Sadly if he wont sign a new contract we have to cash in on him to the tune of at least £1.75m
