The amazing thing is if the British Army hadn't gone into N Ireland in 1968 the Catholic Community (from where Celtic derives most of their support) would have been torn apart by the Protestants.

It's a part of Britain cos England illegally partioned it in 1921, Sinn Fein got the electoral mandate they required to legitamise it's manifesto for full independance thanks to an overwhelming election victory in 1918.

Britain should never have been allowed to partition the North, Ireland historically was always one entity comprising of four provinces...Ulster, Connaght, Munster and Ulster, England should never have divided Ulster, they cynically ignored the provincial boundaries and in the process gave the loyalists the green light to create an apartheid sectarian ghetto where Catholics were treated as second class citizens in their own country.

The whole fuckin mess could easily have been avoided if Britain had bowed to democratic mandate back in 1918. There would have been no sectarian ghetto in the North, and no justification for the violence and mayhem that the act of partition spawned.

Not true mate ...A large chunk of Ulster remains in the South, Britain did not include it in partition because it wanted to ensure a gerrymandered loyalist majority in the North. And yes I agree, there might well have been a civil war, but it would have petered out and have been over and done with long ago

And anyways the violence we've seen in the recent past (post 1960's) did not stem from partition. It all kicked off because the loyalists mobilised and started to attack the Catholics for daring to campaign for basic civil rights, and equality.

BTW What are your thoughts on Stourmont and how it operated for so long as a deeply sectarian "Protestant parliament for a protestant people" Hell bent on denying equality for Catholics in the North?
