Jay knows that Dave Jones brings the best out in him and he's worshipped here. He's got an ego that needs inflating and us fans love him for it because we give him that boost. He'd be a fool to go because if he stays I reckon we'll finish top two. Controversial I know but seriously, he is key. I'd rate him at £6m not because he's worth that much to everyone, but he's worth that much to us!

Villa may have the money to pay a decent price up front, but not the other 2. We also know that Stoke won't pay any more in wages than we can offer - hence Ledley's choice of Celtic over them.
I also suspect that Villa are not in good shape and could easily do a Newcastle of 2 years ago - implode and get relegated (or at least close to it)
I think SSN still having a go at us because they got the Bellamy thing so wrong last week.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Dave Jones goes to Villa with Bothroyd?

TBH I think Gethin Jenkins is responsible for the delay in offering new contracts (it has to be when you think about it).
However, I have a different take on why. I believe Jenkins is given budget each month and he has to choose how it is spent. Up to now he has prioritised football debts and bringing in our loan deals.
This has left little room for him to offer new contracts to J Bothroyd, P Whittingham and Chris Burke. I would hope that once the transfer window is shut, September's priorities would be offering these players new contracts.
If it isn’t then he truly is incompetent.

tbh he cant just come out and say "yes i plan on staying i love it here" when they havnt offered him a contract yet.. because if for reasons unknown to jesus himself we didnt offer him a contract, he'd look pretty silly. when we are 1st in the league at christmas, they will all re-sign

are these the people who have no experience yet managed to sign Drinkwater, olifinjana, Koumas, naylor and BELLAMY!!!

Villa are out, at least until they get a new manager. Brum and Stoke are more likely candidates.
The outstanding contracts is a huge issue for us at the moment. Take advantage of the Bellamy momentum and get them signed up sons!

IMO the "incompitent" people who run our club have been doing a damn good job in the last cpl of weeks, the Bellamy signing aside, we have got a decent squad with more rumours about players coming in. The Leldley case all came from PR didnt it? I'm sure they will get it right.
Where's carl when u need him, he always had good news !!!

The club seems to be being run better now than at any time in recent years.
We are being turned into a professional unit that does it's business in the correct way.
I think that new contracts will be offered once the transfer window closes and that if the players are ambitious enough they'll stay with us, Jay especially as it has taken him a long time to settle anywhere.

I totally agree that we are not being stupid with high wages on rubbish players anymore.

SO ARE SOME PEOPLE SAYING WE SHOULD NOT MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO SIGN J/WHITTS etc up on NEW CONTRACTS ?

at the moment, we are stuck in a vicious circle,,,,,,,,,, maybe, just maybe, if we do go up, the malaysians are thinking, if we go up we will put x amount into the club, to try and stay in the prem,,,,,,,, but it will take better players than we have now?, so should we talk to that player and offer him x amount, and x amount of contract ?

I don't disagree, but maybe there is more too it than a 'lack of experience'. Look at the signings we've bought in and the contracts (i.e. Bellamy) that we've been able to negotiate. The same people would have been involved in all of these developments. There seems to be an anti-Gethin agenda being pushed now for some strange reason (as I've mentioned before), is it just because of his past association to Rugby??? Is it he won't drop feed information to you??? Is it to undermine to try and get pressure to get Sam back involved??? Why is it????

We aren't the same team without Jay.
