Only saw a guy with a bloody nose being treated outside the Good Companion, luck it tooks us bloody ages to find our coach as itlooks like our coach missed all the trouble, I'm sure our boys woulda stopped and offered assistance. Shouda been more control after the game, we walked outta the away end passed a load of coppers into the Pompey end to buy a drink off the burget van in there. Anyone else see the woman sat in her back garden giving us the finger as we walked out, silly old tart, wonder if she sits there every game and does the same to all away fans, lol

The 2 merthyr guys were with me yesterday. They were followed back to the companion pub by a group of pompy WHO JUST JUMPED THEM.Thankfully a bus stopped and intervened.I can tell you they both appreciated that.
The trouble is this pub was where we all were before the game and where a lot of city were parked, so surely the old bill should of manned it after the game.
I had my 10yr old with me yesterday who comes away with me, this has seriously made me consider attending away games with him in the future.I don't condone violence but when this happens you have got to defend yourself.
My two mates plus a fella from Brecon were ok but had quite nasty injuries the old bill took photos and all our names and addresses, somehow i don't think any thing will happen.
On a positive note after the delay etc the driver of our minibus got us back ta abergavenny in just over 2hrs
nice one Georgy boy.

Unfortunately CF14 I didn't take my kids to the game yesterday for the same reason.

2 great old clubs that sadly over the years have got more than their share of thugs amongst their support.

By the sounds of it Pompey fans were the perpetrators of the trouble yesterday but if we're being honest we have similar idiots who pick on scarfers and other soft targets.

what kind of person makes a comment like that?
im sorry mate but this is 2010 and i should be able to take my kids anywhere without wondering if they will be safe.
going to a footy match and expecting it to be safe does not make me a bad parent.

As 1 of the 2 merthyr boys who got jumped near the Good Companion pub I would just like to personally thank the buses that came to our aid ( you know who you are guys) and for the retribution that was swiftly dished out.
As we approached the pub there was a large group of boys in the car park who, as we had previously been in the pub prematch, naturally assumed were Cardiff. However as we passed through them we started to receive a lot of aggro by the time we realised who they were the punches started coming in I was struck several times but managed to keep walking through the car park as the crowd turned on us we were then followed 100yds up the street before we turned and had a go. Unfortunately as has already been mentioned there were approx 12 -15 of them so to say it was a bit one sided would be taking the piss. The arrival of the buses signalled the end of our skirmish and I had a few tasty little injuries to take home with me.
The fact the police can turn what we thought was a Cardiff pub back to the Pompey without any warning or notice is beyond belief. Why was there no police presence within the car park to prevent something like this happening? Only they can answer that.

By the way alfie we werent the old timers you made us out to be I,m 33 and my mate is 42 ha ha :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think you have a slightly romantic idea about the behaviour of some of our supporters.

Look I know theres the unwritten code of our 'boys' only kicking off with like minded boys from other clubs but we have plenty of morons who'll show off in front of their mates by verbally/physically abusing innocent bystanders and scarfers. Add this to shoplifting on an industrial scale from service stations, giving dogs abuse to stewards at away grounds and behaving like twats on trains and whilst we certainly aren't unique it is fair to say we have plenty of problems in our own back yard.

I agree though the Pompey cowards that attacked innocent Cardiff fans are exactly that...cowards.

Once again Thanks to the big fella in the green superdry T-shirt who came to my aid when he seen me throwing my son over a wall after he'd been punched 2/3 times, If i knew ur name i thank u personally !!!!!!

WHAT A PRICK!

YOU are sooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid it is unreal!

THIS sport is promoted as a family sport - this game was escorted - We went on supporters coaches as they have full police liasons etc!

My child has been going to home & away fixtures including Chelsea & the Wembley's so WHY should I have given it any thought that he would see what he seen.

We were at the ground early - we watched the game - we had food after outside the ground - we mingled with "fans" - The fans mingling around the coaches were fine - the kids with their parents chatted as they passed us - we got on the coaches without any problem - great day had by all old & young and a win - not seen any trouble just lots of sad faced pompey fans!

HOWEVER as we drove past the "cardiff" pub segregated by police.......................... THESE "fighters" not "fans" as already said were in an allocated Cardiff Pub - this is an issue the police need to review for any futur3e fixture for other clubs! Thought it great to kick off............... we happened to drive by as it was all happening.

OH and SHAME ON ME - get real children would never go to ANY game home or away if you were to shield them!

The matter being made about the events of yesterday is how 2 innocent MEN were attacked along with the pompey landlord away from the GAME!

Re: Kicked off on fratton Road

Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:35 pm

i remember this happening to 2 plymouth fans back in the 90,s under the bridge by ninian park pub one of them had a scarf on and the other a plymouth top,but lucky for them there was enough decent cardiff about to help them out and see them back to there car safely, these scum are wankers of the highest order and every club has them even ours, hope the 2 lads involved yesterday are ok.

Re: Kicked off on fratton Road

Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:43 pm

Agree with the comments about taking boys to away games.I've got 2 teenage sons & would'nt be deterred from taking them away because of the actions of a few cowards, to stop because of these idiots would be a return to the 70's & 80's trips.Quite surprised at Pompey though, i can remember as a kid being on the Old grange with my old man surrounded by pompey & they were'nt interested in any of us, it was with the City mob they wanted a tear up with. They remained the only club to ever take the old Grange & earned a lot of respect, wonder what they would think about their new wave of hoolies?

Cops were a waste of space anyway.

We drove down and before the game asked 2 local coppers which pubs were for Bluebirds fans and directions and the b'stards sent us to Smiffy's - we got there and it was like sending a pile of Jacks to the Corp!

Hence we didnt go in and when we asked the coppers outside there they couldnt believe we were sent there! It was as if they wanted us 2 get a kicking.
