Absolute Clown Liam, pathetic dickhead.

Annis, he was saying about plastic fans who support Man U etc but have no affinity to the club or to Manchester. Just chose the club due to their success at the time. I agree with this.
Being born and bred in Cardiff is completely different imo.
If I moved from Cardiff I (like you and Bakedalaska) would be just as passionate.

This all came about because Tony Bellew had a go at Goldstein saying he should support his local team and not Man United.

Goldstein said his local team was Orient and on that point I agree with Bellew. I believe you should always support your local team.

I have many mates who support the "big clubs" who were born and bred in Cardiff and have no affiliation, family or connections to Man United, Liverpool , Chelsea etc. It's glory hunting at its finest.

The passion issue Goldstein brought up I actually agree with him. If I moved to Australia I'm not going to be less passionate about Cardiff even though I moved and wouldn't go to as many games.

My mates who support the big clubs are passionate about their sides but I just don't get the connection they have with these clubs.

I guarantee many of you will have mates that are born and bred from Cardiff but if we played Man United, Liverpool etc they would support them over us. That's what I have a problem with.

Oh have I miss understood Andrew.

Yes I am against fans from Cardiff supporting Premier Clubs just because they are the big clubs.

As a kid in a Cardiff school, I was the only one in my class to Support Cardiff City.
The others followed Leeds, Liverpool and Man United.

I believe in supporting your local club, unless of course due to family , parents supported their home towns etc and passed it in to you.

No problem mate. Yes it was the same in my school, just me and another lad with all other’s supporting the big teams.

Jules, ignore this Dickhead Liam and the clowns who are backing him.

We know how we feel about Cardiff City :bluebird:

Spot on Annis, used to watch City home or Merthyr home when the fixture fell right.

I grew up in Cardiff, was a season ticket holder from aged 13-29. Then I decided to join the Military. I go to as many games as I can (I’ll be there again this Saturday) but the amount of old school mates I have who support either Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea is mind-boggling. Most have never seen their teams play.

I was in the Falklands when City were in the Premier League and my boss allowed me to fly 8000 miles on a Friday to watch City v Arsenal on the Sunday to then fly 8000 miles back to the Falklands   On the way back out, our flight had a technical issue and I got to spend 4 days in Uruguay :king:

Liam from Caerphilly said that it’s unlikely that you’d have the same passion for your team if they weren’t local to you. AG argued that it was indeed possible and tried a few methods to prove this but Liam stood firm citing the local buzz after ccfc beat the jacks was incredible. After the call Darrrn bent actually said that he could ‘see where he was coming from’.

Good job for him Annis or myself were not on the show.

Exactly Ian,

Pathetic to say because I live or you live away we are not as passionate or don’t get excited as much.

He was actually‘championing’ the likes of you Annis, Bakedalaska et al :bluebird:

Like a lot of us Bluebirds, grew up in Cardiff, Went with my dad down to Ninian (old wooden canton stand from 1969 onwards).

Dad passed away 1972 when I was 11 years old but I still went most home games. Season ticket Holder until I joined the Navy in 1977/78.

(Fortunate enough to see all those Brilliant years of Jimmy Andrews team , Alston, Evans, Friday, Buchannan, etc and Clarke, Toshack before that)

When on leave, always back down the City as often as possible.

Moved away to Mid Wales after Left Navy for career.

BUT, my point is this:

Get then hooked on Cardiff City young. Take your children, Grandchildren, Friends Children and Teens to experience the Atmosphere and the whole day out and the excitement that can come from belonging to a Group of Likewise Supporters.

It's funny how things that you remember from your childhood stay with you forever.

As others have stated, I would get "what you supporting them for" ? from other kids who were all the ultimate glory seekers of Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Leeds, etc .

Once a bluebird , always a bluebird :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Lots of good points made here, but let's face it most people who don't support their local league team support the big glamour clubs. Liam is right when he talks about more passion when you support your local team..

I was a Liverpool fan back in the day, I was about 10-11 and Liverpool were the best side around. Of course I supported them, and my eldest brother was a Man U fan so that gave me even more reason.

Then, at the youth club , when I was circa 13 years old, I was invited to a Cardiff game. I told Mum I was going down the shops, jumped on a train at Bridgend and the rest is history.

The atmosphere, the adrenaline, the sheer volume of noise at that age gets you pumped. My next game was the weekend after away at Charlton in the old Valley. Can't remember the excuse I gave for that one but I was totally hooked.

45 years later and a long standing ST holder, 2 x Sons CCFC fans, 2 x Grand Kids CCFC fans, the point is this (sorry to bore you all)......it's in the experiences we make for others i.e. if I was never invited to that first match, my sons, my grandchildren would probably not be Cardiff fans. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Support your local side and keep supporting them if you move away.

Lightly ridicule glory supporters
