Thanks for your engaging contribution...
Chris take no notice moaners on here say boring football to come, Bulut could only work with what he had.
Why don't people wait and see what players we we will get in. I am quite confident there will be a good budget
Again we're hearing this "Bulut could only work with what he had" as if he was dealing with a squad of non league players who he had heroically managed to mid table in the Championship.
He signed two Greek international players.
He had strikers who have previously scored heavily in the Championship (Grant, Meite, the lad who used to play for Bristol City)
He had solid, experienced Championship standard players (Ralls, NG, Wintle, Horvarth)
He had a young striker who scored more goals as soon as he left us (Ugbo)
He had a young player with potential who he hardly played (Colwill)
He had youngsters who he was unwilling to try even when we were safe from relegation (J Colwill, Ashford etc)
He had loan players from Premier League teams (Bowler, Phillips).
He signed a lot of those players himself.
He had the sixth highest wage bill for players in the Championship.
I'm sorry - I can't agree that he did the best with "what he had to work with".
He should have been able to get far more out of the squad he had than he did and I have see absolutely no evidence at all over the last 12 months that Bulut can play in any other way than he did last season and I'd love somebody to enlighten me as to whether any of the teams he has managed in the past has been lauded for their exciting, attacking football.

But under Tan we won’t get better as this Regime are clueless and Not many good would want to work under them anymore.
Buluts had NO offers else where just Media bullshit
But I will fully back Bulut and as he now know the Championship, so after 12 league games We can see certainly see where we will be going under under him.
Our Fan base is totally split / Divided on Bulut.
But We do need Stability.
For once I think you and I share the same view !!
I’m not overly convinced, particularly with those 2 games at the end of the season.
However, after a season that we have regard as generally pretty good I do believe he deserves another crack.
Doubters such as myself cannot argue with the fact that he turned us from a team that struggled to stay up into a team that comfortably stayed up and even flirted with the playoffs at time. We also beat Ipswich and Southampton and look where they are now !!
I honestly don’t think Bulut would have re-signed if he wasn’t given assurances around budgets. Whilst we may not be his biggest fans he does have a good CV and reputation and at his age I don’t think he would want to set himself up to fail.
Whatever happens, it needs to be sorted quickly now so the real planning can begin.

Yes we had a good start to the season which probably made our end of season more comfortable, but I feel if he can get the players he wants instead of being stuck with some of the crap that was already here we will see better football. He knew we were woeful up front(he's not going to openly say that) so had to try to be solid at the back and hope to sneak a win. I get that way of thinking so I am willing to judge him when he has the players he wants, remember he was badly let down in the January window. For me I hope this is correct that he is staying, but please Tan give him some sort of kitty to work with.

So those crap players he inherited
Keeper Bulut
NG extended contract
Goutas Bulut
McGuinness………….
Collins…………
Ralls Extended
Wintle Extended
Siopis Bulut
Turnbull Bulut
Rambo……….
Colwill……..
Loans
Philips, Grant & Bowler were successful
Deidhou, Igbo not so
I am not saying don’t extend and in the whole we are a very loyal fanbase, but let’s not not call out crap boring pedestrian football. If I was Tan I would not sign off anyone transfer for players older than 24
Thu May 23, 2024 2:21 pm
Now that the dust has settled, giving Bulut an extended contract and a reasonable budget to work with does not seem to be the worst option. That was certainly not my view after the debacle at the end of this season but maybe I've had enough of all the managerial upheaval in recent times.
Anyway, if he puts pen to paper let's hope for all our sakes that he can raise performance levels and gladden the hearts of the fans next season.
Thu May 23, 2024 2:28 pm
It's amazing the polarisation this appointment would bring.
You can see how people think with their heads, it's a good appointment, he knows what he is doing, and he achieved a big increase and gave us safety comfortably.
With their hearts, I don't care the football was terrible to watch and I'm not sure I can manage another season like that even if we finish seventh.

I’m glad he’s staying if true look at the few players he’d did manage to get in for us so if he can get a few more of his own signings surely it will only strengthen us even if we have to sell a couple to bring more in . I think playoffs at least if Bulut here next season with a bit of backing .
Thu May 23, 2024 2:36 pm
In fairness i think if EB had been backed to sign the targets he wanted in january we would have been more attacking, im not saying we would have been world beaters but the goal scoring options he got in late in the window were scraping the barrell. Hopefully he has a few targets this time that he will get
May mean losing Ng to fund it but what would you rarher a good RB or a goalscorer, ww have cover at RB.

Apparently he’s still away with his family and no decision has been made…
Thu May 23, 2024 4:36 pm
In his defence losing his 2 best players Rambo and O’Dowda for most of the season was a hammer blow to him. At the start of the season with Rambo playing we looked good and did well. Yet he still got us to a good mid table position despite the awful football. Another talented player - Robinson - went missing. What’s to do about him I don’t know. Now he fully knows the league, the players he has at his disposal and some new ones we could see a different type of football and further improvement. What we do need is continuity so his appointment is good. However - a goal scorer is absolutely essential.

Has bulut got what he wants 2yr contract option for 3rd if so as TAN given him the Budget to go with it,we can only HOPE SPECULATE TO ACUMILATE VT
Thu May 23, 2024 5:48 pm
Definitely not my choice and I have said that many times, negative and no plan B.
However we need to have someone in place NOW to prepare for August, therefore if he gets his contract and his own players without interference from the hierarchy let's see what happens.
We don't need another lower league journey man who is cheap and nasty.
Thu May 23, 2024 5:55 pm
Even as someone now firmly on the "there is better out there" bandwagon giving him 2 years with an option is something I advocate. We'll never know the caveats in the contract for compensation if sacked through performance.
If he is building something, it can't be with 29/30 year old incoming players. We need pace, pace, and more pace of mind and body.
I like him, I think he is a disciplinarian so I can't see Robinson or Romeo lasting, but he likes older dependable players and we need to lower the average age.
Hopefully,(of course, I am a city fan) I'd love to see he can adapt to the championship but we got battered far too many times for me to believe he can. I think the championship is too clinical and brutal for him.

Think he learnt a lot last season and will do better this time as long as he gets the striker HE WANTS.

I think next season will be a relegation fight if Bulut stays. Every team now's exactly how we will set up and play.
Thu May 23, 2024 7:11 pm
To play the attacking football the fans want, you need better quality players and a good squad. That was not always achievable last season with freebies and loans. Hopefully the rumours are true and Bulut gets the contract (Best situation under Tan)with financial backing which could enable the building of a decent squad, therefore more attacking football. I think the fans should fully support Bulut whilst Tan is still in control.

Even if he had a top striker last season, it would not have made much difference, no support from midfield and inverted wingers. Haaland would struggle in that system. So I don’t think he learned anything, if he did, we would see more than one formation and not got blasted by the worst team in the league and out managed by a hapless Wayne Rooney. I fear a relegation dog fight if he stays.

how will he set up after transfer window closes guess you know the players he will get in ? a manager who has managed bigger games than city/swans derby cannot change after just one season in the championship and he didn't learn one thing about it? I'm not sure about him but got to give him a chance at least but relegation not likely going on this season.

My view is, the only way this club will progress is by the circus and head clown are gone . We had some good results last season but at times like Swansea away , the last two games, Leeds at home, where performances were dire I just don't see bulut cutting out those performances. He doesn't inspire me.

Perhaps if the inverted wingers ?? and midfield had more confidence that someone up top would actually do something they may have been more inclined to play the ball forward.

Most fans I spoke to during pre-season stated that they would be happy with a mid-table finish. 12th position is exactly mid table in the Championship, so Bulut delivered his brief. If he were to be sacked now it would be on the basis that although he achieved his brief, he failed to expand on it. That might be viewed as harsh.
Personally, I think he deserves another season with a brief to better 12th position and better the all-round style of play

I don't think it matters what players he gets in this summer, he only has one tactic and the players will have to play that way. It's so predictable and every club will know how to beat us, and that is why I believe we will be in relegation fight next season if Bulut stays.
I hope he proves me wrong and I'll gladly eat humble pie, but I can't see it.

Can say same about most managers they all have
a particularly way of playing knowing how they play and stopping them are two different things.... but I'm sure if got who wanted and Rambo was fit wouldn't be having this conversation but time will tell if can get his own players in and he's adapted to what championship is all about.. something that wasn't easy last season..... anyway we live in hope

If you know anything about our hierarchy, you'll know that nothing gets announced until they are ready. Erol Bulut is still away with his family and so the finer details left to work out may be a little spread out in their conclusion
