Only without a club due to politics, would be a great signing at this level.

This would be an excellent, ambitious signing.

He’s only without a club for non-footballing reasons and having seen him play he’s way better than any of the wide players we currently have or had last season.

I really hope this one comes off, we need this level of quality.

Like I said in my other post, not sure how much he really knows these days and I trust Sky ahead of him.

He’s only put out names this summer after other media outlets have.

Anyway, now he’s saying he could be signing for us which shows what he knows

Would be a great signing sure he had a really good season in the prem with villa.

Would show tan is fully backing too. Get these two over the line and least we going into the start of the season with improvement in key areas for us

Yes Allan they still havent paid him although the court has told them they must. The club is going to be in big trouble if they dont pay!

My understanding is that they although they initially cancelled his contract, his successful appeal for wrongful dismissal means that he's still under contract and officially a Mainz player again.

Apparently the club hasn’t made the back pay that they were ordered to by the court so that’s why he can cancel his contract.

That's true. But they are at a standstill because they've not paid damages and loss of earnings yet. Don't think either are against cancelling the contract now.

Don’t know much about football contracts but if he was released, then would that mean he is free to sign for anyone.

Would the money owed to him need to paid whilst he’s still “at the club” or would his lawyers be able to get this money for him and he still sign and play for us?

Yes, its still money owed. So it'll need to be paid regardless of moving clubs. UNLESS they come to an agreement.

He was very good with Villa from what I can remember. If he's still near that level he would be an excellent signing.

Mainz cancelled El Ghazi’s contract last November.
El Ghazi’s lawyer took Mainz to court and sued for £4.5M loss of earnings for his contract.
The judge ruled that Mainz pay El Ghazi £1.4M.
He no longer has a contract with Mainz and is a free agent.
