Completely agree.

I really hope we can inject some pace into the side as that’s missing throughout. It’s all very well having a patient build up but if there’s no injection of pace further up the pitch, we won’t be creating much.

I know it’s early days but I really hope Bulut recognises this and does something about it.

I don't agree with 'we need time' bollocks. Everyone knows when the season starts and the team should be fit and ready to go fullstop. Excuse after excuse, if I didn't watch the game live today, it could have been a replay from last season. Nothing has changed imo. This is as expected tho, so not really surprised, it will be another painful season unless tactics and players improve. :bluescarf:

The better team didn’t lose today. Overall Sunderland deserved the points. Defended well, very disciplined and counter attacked extremely well.
Beaten by a better side.

Awful decision to start Tanner.

Our right hand side is a problem. Ng didn't overlap once, his defending for both goals awful yet everyone loves him. No pace. He is an issue.

We could be sitting on zero points after four games.

Look at the team, we've swapped Nat for Chambers... No difference.

Grant for Willock, slight upgrade.

Ramsey looks past it.

Sorry but the better team did win, they sat and defended well, hit us on the break, that was their plan and they executed it. Should've been three.

This does not bode well.

In terms of gameplay, Sunderland were not the better team.

Anyone who says otherwise is watching the scoreline not the game.

First goal was a set piece mistake. Second came on the counter when we were pressing.

Second half we controlled the tempo.

An irrelevance as a young Sunderland team beat us two zip at home. Stats / possesion don't count in a results
business. Another defensive set up at our own ground cost us yet again. Erol doesn't appear to be learning, and he
needs to quickly.

I can't see Bulet changing. Played exactly the same way as last year, he needs to be more ambitious, even if we play the same formation.

If he plays the same way we have to drop Ng and put pace on there. We look at our best in there last year with Conte playing in that position, where has he gone!

If we're going to lose I would rather lose 5-4 than 2-0. At least I'd get out of my seat.

Glad to see some more sensible comments on this article compared to some of the ones I read straight after the game. Agree we controlled a lot of the game and I feel on another day we could’ve scored 2 or 3 goals.

Very early days and even if we don’t get promoted there is a project happening IF Bulut gets the time. We won’t be anywhere near relegation IMO. Let’s hope for just more goals from open play than last year as that’s where we really lacked.

Unfortunately the scoreline is the only thing that ultimately counts.

We can boss the game, control the tempo, win the possession stats but realistically, apart from a brief spell at the start, we never looked remotely like getting anything from the game.

Did we boss the game ? Did we control it?
I would argue Sunderland did, they executed the game plan well and they let us do what they wanted us to do. They controlled the match.

We can only get better though and I believe we will.

Can’t argue that Sunderland came with a plan and it worked.

I wouldn’t say we bossed it, but I did think we were better than them - others clearly disagree which is fine.

I maintain that we will look better when our signings are up and running. Two of them didn’t play today.

All about opinions but people are right when they say the thing that matters is the scoreline.

Ned your right they did come with a plan just like most teams did last season and its the same problem we don't score when in control of game? We were the better side but our inability to make real goal scoring chances make the other teams look organised and better than they were... only when we chased game did they have anything going forward rest game did little but there again didn't have to...... an all to familiar tale.

I do agree that results are the name of the game.

If he loses to Burnley there will be more pressure and then another defeat to Swansea will mean huge pressure, which COULD be something he wouldn’t be able to come back from.

I hope it doesn’t come to that.

The game is about putting the ball in the net, not about percentage possession.
Sunderland had more shots on goal and scored two goal to our nil.
Very few chances screated by Cardiff and just like most of last season, a lacklustre performance.

Currently, I feel I made the right decision not to renew my season ticket! :(
