But we should also remember that there are thousands of City fans out there that can't afford to buy a season ticket or go to many games per season, especially if they have kids, it can be an expensive day out. Most of these fans target the derbies and games against the bigger clubs.

My point is how can they suddenly then afford to come to every game when we’re in the top two or in the Premier League?

As far as I’m aware, the club doing well on the pitch doesn’t make fans have more money.

We have a hardcore fan base which is decreasing.
You have to look back to the 90s when we weren’t attractive enough for the younger generation, who were attracted to the big clubs. Cardiff City did nothing to help bring youngsters to support their local club.

That argument is fair enough but it’s not fair to say it’s because people can’t afford it, when they can afford it when we’re doing well.

People moan about £30 ticket prices for away games but I remember going to Chelsea in the PL when the tickets were £70+ and we sold out the away end. This was before the PL put a price cap on away tickets.

I still think money is one factor, I'm not saying it's THE factor. People will push the boat out a bit more for the bigger teams especially if they have kids nagging to go.

Just over 5,700 tonight and over 1,200 of them were Bristol Rovers fans

I have lost mates to city games over the years and more recently this season for the following reasons given -
1. The buzz. The needle has gone, the intimidation of NP, the draconian stewarding and poor acoustics and atmospher of CCS, and the tough consequences of being caught being naughty on camera.
2. Vincent Tan turning us red.
3. The football of the last few seasons is boring and predictable
4. Erol Bulut

I must say number 2. Almost got me.

Im still here. Ill be there. And quite frankly single dad with two City supporting sons I cant afford it. But renewed and trying to be positive, its hard to be with this manager

Well done for sticking with City. I'm still here with my OM and my 2 boys. In fact, ever since I've moved to the family stand, the entertainment level has dropped off alarmingly! I got a sense of deja vu against Sunderland although the players did put a shift in second half and tried their best.

Hope it gets better.

Agree with the comments about match day experience. Two things I would say:

For a number of seasons now the football has been rubbish. It really is a hard watch.

It's also expensive. Not the ticket price that is very reasonable but £7 a pint.

Yes we've had a testing time of it the last 12 years and I'm glad to see you both still supporting the Bluebirds and there's probably thousands like you out there who find it difficult to afford tickets.

Fingers crossed the football improves soon, hopefully that will bring more in.

You can’t compare us to a city like Sunderland, it’s probably smaller but the place lives and breathes it, the club is the town, the heartbeat of it. Everyone knows when a game is on and who they are playing. Cardiff couldn’t be more different. At least 50% of Cardiff wouldn’t even know there was a game on, of the other half maybe 25% will know who is in town.
