I think we are a "dour, tough football" fan base, maybe it's the rough working-class catchment area or how ingrained rugby is to the community but we are skeptical of "Fancy Dan" players. Even the late great Peter Whittingham, regarded as the best championship player ever, had fans moaning about what he couldn't do more than what he could do that no other could do in the team!
If he could do everything he wouldn't be in the championship

Rubin is the same as every player in our squad, there is stuff he can't do, but as he is "skilled" we double down on him. I am not sure he would get the same sort of scrutiny 40 miles west.

Rubin wouldn't have got in a Warnock team,he had a rigid 433 model, i doubt he'd make the squad and he would have been let go to a manager who wants that sort. IMO, Russel Martin would have made him into a player that a premier league club would take a punt for a pretty penny.

In one sense its Tan's fault, the lack of direction at the club with so many poor or short-term Management appointments has lost him lots of money. A decent coach may have made him a £10 million player or that cohort.

If i were Rubin I'd put in a transfer request and go to a club that wants his type.

I understand and agree with your sentiments with regard to Colwill’s talents and development.
However, Warnock allowed Adel Taarabt to flourish at QPR in The Champioship, he could certainly recognise unique talent and enable it to the benefit of the team.

I was thinking about Taarabt and in reality, those Warnock seasons were his prime. In many ways there are massive similarities, technically great but slow, the aura of Taarbt is higher than the stats in the book.
He is only 35 !!!

Rubin is our hidden Gem - He has had alot of hassle with all previous managers - when he shines under a real manager - he will be gone and another home grown talent will be missed - he needs regular game time and needs better service good luck to him he deserves it - worked his socks off year in year out and is a lovely genuine polite person also

I am deeply passionate and maybe have rose tinted specs regarding our local and Welsh players.

I was instantly drawn to him first time I watched him, I agree he is an enigma, my favourite player, and all his strengths and weaknesses highlighted here o agree with, also what he needs to do next to kick on, fulfil potential and maybe even make the step up to a PL club. Also to become first choice in the Welsh team.

My defence of the highlighted weaknesses are, look at the managers he’s played under at city, the current one being the most untrusting, rigid and negative tactically. The ones before him weren’t much better, add to that his growth problems, he had definitely been effected by outside sources.

I’ve never gone as mental at a City game as I did when he scored his pearler against the Worzels. It was right in front of me, I was caught on camera chasing after him with stewards running after me! And then back on the bench for the next game.

Bulut has almost coached his natural game out of him

Never have Been a fan. When players get hyped up by the club, it puts so much pressure on them.

He's certainly not a kid, and in my opinion can't single handedly change the direction of a game.

All Previous managers can't be wrong. What is ability these days? Clearly people In the know think there's something there, but will the still be saying that when he is 25?

Maybe he tries too hard. I think he should forget his flicks and tricks, and Concentrate on the basics of the game.

For me, it's breakthrough season this year for him. If not, how much longer do we leave him take up a valuable place in the squad?

He is a very talented player, we keep bringing in managers that don't know how to use him properly.

It's the clubs fault than Rubins, if we had brought in a manager with a track record of producing young players like a Mark Warburton or a Jokanovic.
