How am I proving your point. I think he'll end up progressing further and you don't. You've written him off at 22 as he's been inconsistent and I think he's shown enough talent that whether its at Cardiff or not, he'll end up a premier league level player. It’s just opinion and time will tell who was right.

Proved my point by pointing out this will help him or that will help him.

How long have we been hearing things like that?

I want him to prove people like me wrong but there are no signs that will happen.

Football is flooded with players who can be good on the odd occasion. It's the consistency that makes the better players in this league.

There's a reason Bellamy doesn't pick him for Wales and why nobody made any decent offer for him.

Not surprised in the slightest that this has turned into a ‘he’s good enough vs he’s not good enough thread.

I do agree with Ned that he isn’t consistent enough to be a top player in the league let along a premier league quality player at this point.

He’s extremely frustrating to watch. He either has a blinder or he goes missing, there doesn’t seem to be an in the middle with him.

When he came into the team against Plymouth, Portsmouth & Norwich he was excellent and was involved with the majority of the goals.

Teams then made plans to stop him and he was unable to have the same impact. Yes that's for him to work out but surly it must also say something about his talent that opposition make plans to stop him to then stop us.

He's got a long way to go but he definitely has talent. He's also a late developer so he may hit his prime in his mid to late 20s.

Glad he had a brilliant impact today and if you can't enjoy a homegrown talent doing well then support man city or chelsea, as all players at Cardiff's level, have lots of areas to improve.

This is not true.

People don't criticise him because he doesn't play in a certain way. We're critical because he has zero consistency.

He turns up two or three times a year and that's not good enough I'm afraid. He put in a great performance yesterday but we've seen him do that before, Bristol City at home last season is another example.

However he never follows it up with consistent good form.

I would love him to kick on after yesterday and put in performances of a decent standard on a regular basis - I just can't see it happening unfortunately.

Nobody is expecting a performance from him like yesterday every week but just a decent standard on a regular basis, with the odd high quality performance like yesterday.

We all want him to succeed but I'm not going to lie and say he's been brilliant for us because the consistency means he hasn't.

Compare that to Ashford, who has consistently been a decent player this season.

I criticise a lot of our players - Daland, Chambers, El Ghazi, Ng, Meite etc I've all been critical of this season.

I don't think Colwill should be a special case and exempt from criticism.

I really like your posts and agree with a lot you say but you can't tell me the criticism Colwill recieves is fair. Ashford hasn't been consistent all year and happy to dig out post where people were saying another failed academy player, and he's welsh league level.

In all fairness I didn't read you giving Robertson the same criticism in our poor 9 game run. A player I really rate but still all players will struggle.

I won't get carried away with Ruben's performance yesterday. In my opinion if you put him in the Leeds team or Middlesbrough team where they have wingers and a 9 with pace you would see a far higher level of consistency.

We haven't had pace in our attacking areas since NW.

To be fair to Riza he looks like he's identified this with his January business.

That's because Robertson is consistently a 6/7 out of ten.

I'd say Colwill's performance yesterday was around 9. But most of the time, the fact that he goes missing means his performances are below 6.

I want all our academy players to be successful. I may be more critical of Colwill than most but that's to balance things out, most on here seem to talk about him as if he's unplayable every week.

But in general, Colwill gets an easy time compared to others.

There's always an excuse for him - he hasn't grown properly, he doesn't have the right players around him, he needs a run in the team etc.

We've heard it all before and nothing changes.

As much as you doubt his consistency people will also see his potential.

All players are different. Rooney matured at 16, Colwill was still growing at 20.

Yes some people give him more rope than others, that would be the same at any club. You're always going to give homegrown talent more support as they're local players who play for the club.

He's got the talent to make comments like these age terribly but you may also be right an he may never reach his potential. I have a feeling with new signings and Isaac Davies coming back there will be a lot of pace around him and you will see further game impact.

Well you're sort of proving my point here.

He will succeed if this happens, if that's happens.

That's all people have said for years about him.

But he hasn't done it and there's always an excuse.

By the way it's not about me doubting his consistency, that's just a fact.

Monty he was Inconsistent Saturday two great composed finishes but he still had moments of not taking the right actions when others in better positions or he had chance to put ball in middle holding on to long something he's done consistently .... he should have learned by now all these things that make a good footballer

If he was a consistent footballer with the ceiling he has for some of his play he wouldn’t be playing for Cardiff and would have been nabbed when he was 15 or 16.
