Their keeper made a right mess of that corner. Sunday league stuff.

Wales dominating now.

But need to find that third goal to finish the game off.

Living dangerously here, definitely need that 3rd goal to put this to bed.

Mark Harris and Jordan James on for Brennan Johnson and David Brooks

I forgot Johnson was even in the team he's been that quiet. Be interesting to see his stats.

Wales knocking on the door.

Gone very close to making it three several times in the last few minutes.

Re: Match Thread " Wales v Kazakhstan "

Sat Mar 22, 2025 9:17 pm

Wales want a penalty for a foul on Cullen but the referee says no.

Re: Match Thread " Wales v Kazakhstan "

Sat Mar 22, 2025 9:31 pm

Rabbi Matondo on for Dan James

Five minutes to go

Re: Match Thread " Wales v Kazakhstan "

Sat Mar 22, 2025 9:32 pm

Frustrating game now, non urgent passing back and forth like a friendly. We could get punished at any time for our passing mistakes. One more goal please.

Re: Match Thread " Wales v Kazakhstan "

Sat Mar 22, 2025 9:36 pm

3-1 Wales

Rabbi Matondo with the goal

That secures the win

Lovely job 3-1, Game over :ayatollah:

FT: Wales 3-1 Kazakhstan

Not perfect, but a win is all that matters.

Had to win the first game to set the tone for the campaign and did that. Things will have to improve though and I'm sure they will.

Love to know how many times our no 6 touched ball must be world record? At one point he recieved ball 6 times without moving more than a yard from spot inside our half and happened several other times..... similar thing with 3 players across halfway line did same felt like walking out of game so bored! Never seen exodus of people on 85 mins when winning a game But result was the thing....... hopefully improve on the stats 71% possession but similar shot s as them if wasn't for those attempts 2nd galf would been worse then them that crazy .....

i only watched the first 30 mins yesterday but its clear that Bellamy has a way he wants to play but also that the midfield passing range is short and limited, 100's of little passes but very few passes with intent to damage. Johnson is a wide 433 forward, & Thomas James barely had decent ball in the period i saw.

The full-backs were a flashback to Bulut pushing them into the inside channels, but these are not premier league full-backs capable of making midfeilder level passes as they are full-backs.

We will get spanked by a good team if we turn the ball over as often as we do, but Bellamy is an attacking coach, and gambles far more than your Mourihno generation of coaches so its sit back and enjoy it. He is maxing an average crop.

We needs to repurpose Colwill though, he needs to guard the ball better but his passing range is levels better than Sheehan's. If its Colwill with the most touches in a 8 role life will be interesting :D

I bailed our after 89 minutes and missed the third goal.

To be honest I was bored! Was not very exciting football to watch for the most part. Like has been said here, ball moving too slowly, sideways, very little incisive forward passing or pressure from the wingers.

BJ was pretty anonymous and probably our most talented and dangerous forward (Brooks) seemed to be out of position most of the time.

This was a perfect match for Colwill - sad not to see him play.
There was some improvement in pace when Jordan came on.

We have to step the performance level up in NM to get anything. Missed Wilson badly too.

Totally agree that we missed Wilson, he's been even more of a key player since Bellamy took charge.

It was slow and boring. But I think there was nervousness in the squad - we have a record of not doing well in the first game of qualifying campaigns.

So the win was all that mattered.

Will have to play better in Skopje on Tuesday though.

They had not scored since 2023 so whilst no need to go gung ho we actually created their opportunities by being so slow in going forward! Whilst patience was required I thought we could have pushed ball forward quicker out wide.... I left 5mins from end and still couldn't get out car park before closed it so many left early ..... if he does same thing on tues we will be in trouble N.Macedonia won last 6 games! That's a warning to players

Maybe that was the game plan for this game & Tuesday will be a different plan, too little credit being given to Bellers tactics & the team he put out for this game. It's not like we were beaten at home 0-3 by Greece or anything is it.

I think this Welsh side will be better playing teams who come on to us more so we can utilise the pace on the counter ,

last night we didn't really have the ability to break down a team who sat deep with 10 players behind the ball but as has already been said 3 points was all that mattered
