Crazy, isn't it? I've Googled him alright. All I've found are reports of his so-called attempt to buy Southampton and his recent links with us. Apart from that, I've found nothing about this man whatsoever.

Has anyone managed to find anything, or are we relying upon Terry Phillips' reports in the Echo?

Nothing.
Although there is a way, companies house web-site, find out which companies he's a director of and then get the accounts for those.

Time-consuming, not free and probably will still leave you in the dark.

He says he's worth £160m (as £40m is 1/4 of his wealth), but there is no way of corroborating this.

I guess if he can pull £40m together (although I still dispute this figure as being what will actually be needed at day 1), then he must be pretty well off ;) .

Its basically a case of wait and see for me. I'm not 100% its serious anyway.

Would Companies House cover Guernsey? Not sure, but I don't think so.

Given his wealth has decreased from 200m to 160m in media reports over the last few days, by the time he takes over, if he does, we'll owe him money...

£40m would be the value of the shares plus money to cover the debts, surely?

Yes, thatts why even companies house is prob a waste of time.

As for the £160m/£200m thats just the media for you.

Yes the £40m is allegedy £23m for debts and £17m for shares.

I beleive the total debt is MORE and that £10m of the debt doesnt have to be paid immediately.

£17m for the shares seems too much as well.

There is a registry of companies for Guernsey (their version of Companies House) but I can't work out how to use it to search for Steele Properties

Also I assume Steel had a 'car sales business' somewhere in the SE of England during past 15 years from where he accumulated his £200m fortune. If so there should be a record of him as a director?

BTW £17M for the club values the shares at 41p each.
