Sam, I went on the pitch that day I was fuming you had thousands on OUR PITCH
Wow, I have big time memories on that one - I'll never forget that Sheff Wednesday game. At the end (when their thousands came on the pitch and our fans got (let's say) somewhat annoyed
, I happened to be at the front of the Bob Bank aged 14, only to get caught in the back of the head with a 'friendly fire' stone/rock. Suffice to say my brand new pink (!!) benetton Tshirt (it was literally the 1st time I'd worn it
) was ruined. I got hurried off to the St Johns Ambulance shack at the corner of the Bob Bank and Canton, and had an Ambulance to take me to the Infirmary quick smart as I was in a bit of a state and bleeding heavily.
I'll never forget what happened next, my late Mum, (she is a total legend to me and my personal hero as god bless her, she sadly died of cancer less than 2 years later aged 46) arrived at the hospital with my dad at c.6:30pm to get me........ Anyway, she took one look at me, gave me a right mum's smack and screamed "That's it, you're not going to see that rubbish ever again" (it was the Clemo era after all
). Thankfully over the summer months, her shock and anger subsided (as it was the last home game of the season). So, come August, I was back for the season kick-off of 84-85 with my mum happy that the Bluebirds were once again allowed to have her son take his place on the Bob Bank with his mates
A treasured memory I'll hold forever thanks to Cardiff City (and of course, I suppose, Sheffield Wednesday)
