Elvis is a legend, all these bollocks programmes like X factor search for a superstar & yet they've never come close to finding anything close to him.He could'nt play the guitar for jack shit, could'nt write a song but he did'nt have to, he could stick a microphone by his arse & fart for 3 minutes & he'd make it sound good.

Nice one Mozzer. You are not alone mate. I have a mod'y Vespa (as a bit of a play thing with only a couple of hundred miles on the clock in the 7 years I've had it!!) plus a wardrobe full of Tacchini and Fila vintage gear. On the music front, you really should check out The Rifles. If you like The Jam you'll love 'em - Get their latest Album 'Great Escape' (see Avatar) and enjoy ;) ;)

Being a boxing fan it has to be Ali. The great welsh boxer Jimmy Wilde. From Merthyr. Greatest flyweight there ever was.

Honourable mention also Johnny Cash.

No, I haven't have to give it a look.

Got links to great documentaries on some of the best welsh boxers. Excluding Calzaghe where there is a lot of stuff already available.

Yep, went down hill after leaving Enzo Calzaghe. David Haye did destroy him but that was his own fault.

Yeah, look where Haye is now

I know years to come these boxers will be regarded as "legends", but half of them barely fight more than 50 times in their careers now.
Back in the 30s and 20s, boxers like Farr and Wilde would have 150 fights, and not for luxurys like sponserships and big fat cheques like there is today, but to put food on the table and to scrape by.

The story of Jimmy Wilde is really interesting.

He was from a mining village and worked in the mine. On the mine tops they used to have fights for money. That is where his talent was seen. He went onto fight at carnivals. Where people would pay to fight him. He then got signed up and was a professional boxer. Interestingly he was fighting out in America and Canada too.

Out of the 133 fights he won. He ko'd 99 which is amazing. These guys were usually a lot bigger than him too

This is a bloody good question and one I've never considered before.

To be honest though, I idolise anyone who can put a smile on my face at the snap of a finger. The two obvious people who did that were (and still are) my dad and my older brother, the latter being the one who introduced me to the delights of the Grange End and away games with the City :ayatollah:
My nan also has a place up there because she's just brilliant to me (and her cooking is brilliant).

Also as a kid I liked Steve Irwin - I was properly devastated when he died! :(
